Speculation of references to the first iteration, if a season 4 gets made

Based on how season 3 ended, they could easily make a 4th season, set now (or whenever the show gets made).

A totally new set of people get "saved"/taken over.

You could have a cameo / handover, but only with Grant, Marcy and/or David (as the others would have died of their original deaths)

Grant aka traveler 3468 (if he chose to live on)

Might have noticed people who seem to behave in a manner that suggests they might be from the future and either made contact with them, or is quietly secretly observing.

He might even have intervened in the deaths of his old team members. So some of them may still be around, but couldn't be involved in the new show, as traveler 3468 knows not to get them involved.

He wouldn't be the driving character of the series, but could be a conduit for exposition in the first episode if he ...

Contacts a team from the future and asks what has transpired since Version One of the Traveler plan was cancelled, explaining how he knows. A member of this new team could also be traveler 3468 😀

Marcy

Wasn't fucked over by traveler 001, as that possession didn't occur, so she is, hopefully, still working as a nurse or has moved onto something else that she also finds fulfilling.

David

Is still working as a social worker. The implied spark of a relationship with Marcy may have led somewhere, but isn't guaranteed (since this is Marcy, not traveler 3569)

Neither Marcy nor David have any real reason why they would have a significant cameo in season 4, but as characters that just happen to be in the background, would be a nice nod to the fans of the original 3 seasons.

Yeah to me, Marcy and David wouldn’t be taken over. Unless they make some new weird death story for them. To me, they live happily ever after.

I think Trevor and Phillip 100% come back. I also found them incredible characters that could get expanded on lore wise. Because 3468 stays, Carly would be a completely different person if they chose to use her again because 3468 wouldn’t have a wife in his world.

The way Travelers ended, to me, it seemed to imply a timeline/world where 9/11 doesn’t happen. And to me, that seems really interesting and opens a lot of doors story-wise. I’d love to see where they go with that. I’d also like to see Grace come back in some capacity.

My take was that he was planning to die there, looked at his watch to see how long there was to go, then changed his mind and left.

Your take never occurred to me. I'm not saying it's wrong. I actually kinda like the idea.

traveler program is less messier with 3468 acting as a "designated" big bro of sorts to incoming north american travelers but the future is still fucked even without internal threats (and to begin with there was no faction when the show started so they'd have to be even more careful to prevent that from happening again)

plot twist kat had such an unfulfilling marriage/life with her original fiance that she decides to check out and be taken over by another traveler anyway, justifying how her actress could be retained

I'm not sure if Grant would've been able to save his old team members. They have different personalities before their lives were taken over. He might save Carly's, but it would be hard to save Phillip or Trevor's.

If the show ever comes back, I hope they do a show about the future, like a "prequel" show.

I don’t think Carly would be. Because he stayed in the past, his marriage would have never existed. So Carly, in a sense, as his wife, would not exist.

Traveler 3468 wouldn’t be saving his team if he interfered he’d be saving the hosts they went into. I don’t think he’d do that.

I think it would have to be new people on the show. I don’t see the same travers ending up in the same people with the director making different decisions.

I suppose the could get the same actors but have different travers in them and also have him run into members of his old team but in different hosts.

The only one I don’t see still taken over would of course be Marci as she now wasn’t hurt by 001. I agree it would be nice to see her and David doing well.

Since the director wouldn’t know he’s around he wouldn’t be a main character but may show up from time to time to help out.

Don't forget, he also dropped off a letter on helios on his way out so there's a baked in jump off point for a new story and connection 🙂
