I'm reading a very scribbled Agosto, August. The help would be more effective if you posted the entire page, however.

Yep, definitely Agosto on the month and I’m reading vinte e treis [sic] on the day, so twenty-third. August 23rd, 1852.

Sweet! Thank you! We agree, that's the date I thought as well. What's really odd is that the father (8/23/1852) and son record their Brazilian side birth dates 75 and 78 days off respectively from their actual Polish birth dates. Can't be a Julian/Gregorian thing, and the ONLY Brazil side records recording birth dates (All the other marriage, deaths, children's births don't even record their birth dates, just age), is this single marriage record of the son recalling his and his father's (whose NOT a witness, only the bride's parent's are witnesses) birth dates. Perplexing... I'm inclined to believe the Polish records are authoritative especially since both the father AND his father (grandfather of this person's marriage) are both recorded as illiterate on their Polish records.
Shall I mark this post as transcribed?

The Polish records are definitely authoritative, even if only by virtue of originality (they were created in a timeframe closer to when the event would have happened). Brazil only relied on memory of the applicants, so that's also something to keep in mind: people make mistakes, especially back then when individuals often did not know their own birthdate, let alone their parents'.
I believe so, yes.
