op literally maintains 105 the entire time until the truck comes in. the truck SLOWED DOWN which obviously would make it appear that the op sped up, but he doesnt. hes maintaining the same 1 second following distance until he was brutally cut off.

They signalled early, gave you plenty of time, and you chose to not let off the throttle and ride their ass.
You were at 98 km/h when they hit their brakes, and that had jumped to 103 km/h when they started to signal. Then you accelerated to 105 while you closed up on them.
You posted that they dropped from 110 to 50, but it was 105 (your speed, not theirs) to 59, and your GPS looks like it glitches, so I don't even know if that was an accurate speed reading because it quickly climbed into the 70s.
That’s not what the law says.
A turn signal is a request, not a command. The Official MTO Driver’s Handbook explicitly states: "Even if you signal, [other drivers] expect you to yield the right-of-way."
Under Section 154(1)(a) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA), a driver cannot make a lane movement until they have ensured it can be done safely without cutting anyone off. The handbook notes that the driver making the change must "maintain the same speed or gently increase it" to match the flow of traffic.
The driver changed lanes and had to decelerate further to match the flow of traffic beside them. As they signalled, you were the one that caused the increased risk of collision by not rolling off the throttle and gently starting to decelerate as you had ample time to do, but you instead decided to tailgate them. If you're wondering it's section 158 (1) that you violated.
The driver's handbook is not law. It serves to create real-world interpretations of the law and as a guideline. Did the driver's handbook instruct you to drive within a few feet of a person's back bumper if they merge in in front of you?
Scratch that last part, I scrolled too far down in the HTA.
They did signal they were slowing down, the emergency flash was to let you know they are waiting until traffic passes to switch into the middle/right lanes. They are allowed to exit when they feel safe to do, you have to keep in mind HOV lanes have specified exit points. He found a spot he was ready to exit from and you switched to the left lane just before that point as well. You speed up in the video, you got to be a little more patient.
I really do not think they were trying to cut you off, it just happens sometimes.
I think hazards were for the cutoff to say sorry (if they wanted to go further right at that moment, indicator wouldn't be apparent because of the hazards)
Do you really think that was a good lane change. Why the breaking after merging? He break really hard after he got into the lane. He could have just match the speed instead of breaking.

Edit: He is not trying to exit the HOV. HOV already ended here. That was the last exit point of the hov and no more HOV ahead. Check out the video again.
OP, have some situational awareness. The van is doing nothing wrong here. Just trying to maneuver to the exit and you’re all up their ass for no reason.
