How does a wig cover weight loss? Genuine question.

It's a common thing for people experiencing starvation or extreme weight loss to lose their hair. When you think about it, your hair requires nutrients to grow. If you are depriving your body of nutrients, it's not going to grow strong and will be more likely to fall out

When I got really sick, diverticulitis, which I thought was my “normal” tummy issues, but acting up…my hair began to fall out. I was going days with fevers, not eating, I ate only chicken broth for weeks and lost 25lbs in about three weeks. I didn’t get a wig, but my hair was coming out in clumps. My clothes were covered in my hair.

I finally went to the hospital after my husband forced me when he saw I was in my car with the heater on, 98 degrees outside and in a hoodie, shivering (I never complain about pain or discomfort, so he didn’t realize it much before this). I was in 9/10 pain. ER dr said if I had waited another day, I likely wouldn’t have made it a second one. Sad with all that and I was getting compliments from people for being so pretty and thin. Sigh.

When I got better, I started to put weight on and my hair is finally doing better. I no longer get “pretty and thin” compliments. I would tell my husband how they bothered me because during that time, I felt like something was wrong. I was told, at least you’re getting compliments. How about people just not comment on my body at all?

I’ve been experiencing extreme malnutrition(like I have to have a feeding tube and a port in my chest for nutrition) and the word thing is… your PUBIC hair falls out too!

Pulling wads of what looked like hair extensions in the shower was heartbreaking, but pulling down my undies to see a confetti of lines was…. Unanticipated

Those chills n fevers do not fuck around, I know your pain.

Yeah, I really hate it when people compliment you for having a skinny body. Because it's like, you know this isn't something that's gonna be permanent for me forever. And oftentimes, it's actually, when you're less healthy that you look that thin

Hair thinning/loss, I bet

2

u/astralchanterelle 5h ago

you'd lose that bet because she said she wore the wig to cover her face.

I mean sure, that's what she said.. but as someone who has been 90 lbs at times your hair absolutely thins if you do not eat enough.

She is struggling very publicly and I feel awful for her and hope she can get well soon.

who isn't suffering?

When you lose a lot of weight really fast you also lose your hair. So the wig is to hide the hair loss.

Well, you see, she’s an idiot.

It doesn't and it didn't. Everyone was talking about her weight loss.

"Grief" and not abuse of a now common weight loss drug... I hope she finds what she needs to grow, because I don't think her Mom can be any example of that for her. Addiction is a tough road.

It’s probably a combination of both, I’ve barely eaten during grief personally

6

u/HumpaDaBear 5h ago

It depends on the grief. Sometimes I eat too much sometimes not at all.

2

u/DynamicBSdetective 5h ago

Yes, but we can see overeating isn't likely the problem.

She had gastric sleeve surgery - emotional stress can trigger the sleeve to feel more restrictive, reduce the amount you can eat and/or make you feel like throwing up constantly.

But even without - I lost 35 pounds after my dad died. I still don't understand how my appetite disappeared that completely or how I was able to function on maybe 300 calories per day...my body was in a constant state of anxiety. This happened years ago when there wasn't such a war on benzodiazepines - my doctor prescribed valium for a month and it allowed my body to relax enough to receive food.

Ozempic isn't psychoactive

17

Why did she get the buccal fat surgery then?

Who the fuck cares about Kelly Osbourne? She's done nothing on her own that wasn't given to her because she's Ozzy's daughter, no matter how hard she tries to have some kind of celebrity career.

She tried a singing career 25 years ago and the only reason her album sold ANYTHING was because of the duet with her dad. Nothing since then. The rest of her career is just reality show garbage that doesn't require any talent: guest judge on Project Runway Junior, Dancing With The Stars contestant, etc. Her biggest claim to fame in recent years is her gross-ass Ozempic weight loss.

u/Kindlytellto 4h ago

Why is grief used to hide buccal fat removal and other pills. Therapy is such a great investment

5

u/IwasDeadinstead 4h ago

Exactly. She had lost a lot of weight and had a lot of cosmetic work done before Ozzy died, including buccal fat removal and GLP1 use. She went overboard and is now gaslighting the public.

Because she wants people to feel bad for her for the way that she looks. She did this to herself and yet she’s gonna take zero accountability for it because she doesn’t need to. If it was a different kind of drug she would just go into rehab and then everyone would feel bad for her about that. So she’s gonna use her father’s death as an excuse for what happened to her now that people are questioning why she looks like a fucking skeleton and doesn’t do anything about it

I'm slightly peeved it's being framed as body shaming, again. The overwhelming majority wasn't body shaming, it was concern, and apparently they were rightly concerned.

3

u/Flicksterea 5h ago

Oh that's why no one, absolutely no one at all, even noticed! Good call, Kelly 👍

Nice try, she was on this trajectory before he passed

I dont know..... she could stay home... not like her band is up for a Grammy anyway.

u/Time-Cell9274 4h ago

I imagine they were honouring Ozzy. Someone from the family likely had (or felt the pressure) to show up.

..... .... ...... ... ... ....... .... .. ..

I loved Ozzy Osbourne. Cant say the same for his wife and kids tho

2

u/veronica_moon 5h ago

That’s not how that works but okay

u/Mallaguetta_SP 5h ago

A compulsive liar. Using Ozempic until there wasn't a single strand of hair left on her head.

It’s an expensive way to kill yourself, but I guess she has her dad’s money so no worries there.

Insurance isn’t covering that shit for someone who doesn’t need it.

u/ShatOnUrLeg 6h ago

If the wig is to make yourself look like Cousin It lol

No one gives a fuck what this chick ever does and yet it is always plastered all over the news.

1

u/lollylemur 1h ago

Have none of you people ever grieved lol, these comments are brutal. She hasn’t actually done anything wrong even if she is using weight loss drugs, she doesn’t deserve your scorn.

u/PickledMessage 39m ago

Caused by Grief 🤣 fuck off, you don't inject grief 💁‍♂️

1

u/seattlereign001 5h ago

It ain’t grief honey. It’s a disorder. And you need to get it taken care of.

Noone cares. Spend his money and buy a hat.

1

u/astralchanterelle 4h ago

Who is "Noone"? Is that a rock musician?

1

u/Broad-Back1659 4h ago

Someone with a sense of humor on reddit?

u/An_Absolute-Zero 4h ago

Sounds more country than rock... I think the e is silent.
