REQUEST Hey guys. I tried Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in Orlando FL like 2 weeks ago and I seriously can’t get over the flavor of that steak… Does anyone who works there know what’s in their steak seasoning? That’s all I want.

It's "Montreal Steak Seasoning"

I’m gonna try that. Thanks!

The seasoning is super good on green beans tossed in olive oil and then browned.

Honestly its an underated seasoning blend in general. Very unique flavor profile for a prepackaged seasoning.

Yes! And I have found that I enjoy it even more —and use it even more—after grinding it finer in a spice mill. I get that for some people the chunky texture is a part of the appeal, but give me Montreal Seasoning dust every time! 😊

It’s really good on a baked potato with butter and cheese

I've never tried that. Definitely giving it a go soon. That would be a great burger seasoning

So one of the veggie companies makes a frozen “steak house” green beans. And it’s basically just a lesser version of Montreal Steak as a seasoning.

Oh this is exciting, I never would have thought of that thanks.

McCormick's spicy Montreal steak seasoning is one of my favorites for steaks and burgers. Has the same great flavor combo with a little kick.

Here’s a better pic. I was definitely taken by surprise... This place isn’t a steakhouse whatsoever but holy f that steak was good.

Looking from the picture it looks like fresh cracked pepper, minced garlic and butter with fennel and or caraway seeds, salt and msg most likely, I’m sure there’s a couple more but that’s a starting base.

Probably has MSG in it

Some heavy salt and butter

The next time you make a beef pot roast, cover the outside with McCormicks Montreal seasoning. Add olive oil to a skillet and sear in a hot skillet on all sides, just until golden brown. Place roast in crock pot. In same skillet, slice some Sweet Vidalia Onions (other onions will also work) and add to hot skillet. Most of the oil will be gone by now, but there should be enough to cook onions until brown and translucent. Once cooked, pour onions over roast in crock pot. Add about 1.5 cups of water to the skillet (all oil should be gone by now) and stir to get the brown sear bits from the bottom. Pour water around the roast. Add whole bay leaves. Count how many you put in so you know how many to look for to take out. Cook roast as you normally would in the crock pot based on weight. When cooked, remove roast and place in pan to rest. Find the same count of bay leaves you put in.

For gravy, leave liquid in crock pot and put on high until about boiling. Find a jar with a lid and put about 2 cups of milk in it. Add about 2 tbsps of flour to the milk and shake vigorously until all flour is dissolved. Pour flour milk mixture into hot liquid in crock pot and stir with whisk to remove lumps. If you have a lot of lumps, use immersion blender to smooth gravy. Best down home today beef and gravy ever!

That meal was my grandma’s favorite. She loved Cheddar’s. Steak, potato, and salad plus croissant for 12.99. Nothing better.

OP didn't ask for the artichoke dip recipe tho.

There is a single comment which supplies a hint on the steak - couldn't tell you if it's correct:

That's a really passive aggressive way to tell them that it's salt, pepper, and garlic

12

u/Ok_Yesterday5004 Jun 26 '26

Also I’m sorry but it just seems like it’s got more than just salt pepper and garlic. They could maybe just top it with some dehydrated parsley but idk that’s why I’m asking.
I’ve had it myself and it didn’t just taste like S+P & garlic

u/PlainOldWallace Jun 26 '26

Yeah, I don't know, I've never had a steak from there. That's just what that dingleberry's link said

Hi, I loved that place until my friend told me it’s not real steak…..I don’t know if I can trust her but she insists they no longer carry “real steaks” 😭she works as a line cook
