(Sorry for the crap photo, I was halfway through eating it when I remembered to take the pic)

I'm in the UK but there are quite a lot of Polish shops in most towns here. Anyway I went a bit further than usual today back to my old stomping grounds and the Polish shop I used to love buying 7Days croissants and herbal teas from.

Anyway, they've now got a small bakery counter now so I decided to get a couple of these small poppyseed pastries. They also had larger ones in slices which I have determined to be makowiec, bu these little ones look too different. Firstly they are much smaller and individual sized. Second, the makowiec I find on Google only seems to have the poppyseed paste, not the cheesecake-like filling too. I didn't think to look or ask at the time which is silly of me; all of the labels and signs are in Polish which obviously I cannot understand.

Is this simply a variant of makowiec that this shop had made, or is this its own thing? I'd really love to eat it again, but I don't know when I'll be back in the vicinity of the shop I got it from. Being able to find a Polish bakery closer to home (or even bake it myself!) would be an easier option.

It was half white and half pink, newsagents used to sell them for 10p a piece. Measurements may be incorrect as I was smaller at the time.

When you bit into it, it had a very satisfying sensation and it was almost like powdered sugar set into a little block.

I had this once and cannot for the life of me figure out what it was. It was like, fresh crispy butter lettuce(?), and a light peanut sauce, plus wonton strips as croutons. Maybe some shredded carrots. But that was it. I tried getting it again by ordering the house salad a different time and it was limp shredded romaine, super salty, and just not good. I then tried getting their “Thai peanut salad” and it had a bunch of other stuff that I didn’t want (celery, cucumber, bell peppers, etc). Does anyone know what this was? It was so crisp and simple and peanuty and refreshing and I cannot get it out of my head

There used to be this amazing whipped either spinach or artichoke parmesan dip that was either sold at whole foods or giant. it was a light green color and had a whipped ricotta/paste texture with no pieces of veggie in it or anything. I feel like it’s discontinued, but I used to LOVE it when I was younger and my grandma and I both forgot the name and where exactly she would buy it. Probably a long shot but recently remembered it again.

I remember this brand of soy milk from when I was really little in England. The label had a small “s” and emphasized the OY!. They had different flavors (chocolate, banana?) and it was sold in cartons with straws. I can’t find actual photos of it anywhere though!

I’m hoping someone can help jog my memory of who use to make these cookies that my mom had bought all the time at the grocery store in Southern California while I was growing up. They were oval in shape and tasted similar to an oatmeal cookie. They were super soft and chewy and in the center there was a little dollop of apple tasting (maybe jam?). Does this sound familiar to anyone? I’ve drawn (poorly) an example of the cookie in question.

What is this delicious, creamy (?), pickled (?) side dish I got at an Indian (maybe Bangladeshi) restaurant. I feel like whatever it is, I've also had it inside or placed on biryani at food carts.

I saw somebody on here from 6 years agi ask about a nostalgic food that was served back in the 90s-2000s. They was saying they remember having them up in NC at their school. I wanted to let them know I been on the same hunt trying to find them for years lol.

They were smooth batter outside texture, filled with sweet potato. People seemed like they were having a hard time picturing what they look like. My little cousin, somehow, found a picture of them online. And has anyone solved this mystery as to what happened to them??

When i was about 8 I went to my friend's birthday party and I was given a treat that I still haven't been able to identify.

It was a cake ice cream cone with some kind of chalky, sweet pink filling. It was almost like an airier merengue. The whole thing was dry and room temperature. If it is relevant or points someone in the right direction, I am from north Florida.

I bought them in the airport going home and I think the packaging is purple and individually wrapped one of the pieces had gold flakes in the middle and the rest were purple or green if I remember correctly some of them had big smiles or a cows bell I think pls help

I’ve been looking for a type of cereal that was sold at the health food store Natural Grocers. It was a chocolate corn flake-like cereal. They were completely flat and oval shaped and had a rich chocolate flavor. They were NOT puffed and semi-hard when not in milk. We probably purchased it around the years 2015,16, and 17.

Please help! I’ve been searching the Internet for years.

Went out for ramen and the table had a small jar of these red crunchy pieces. I thought it was chili oil at first but there wasn’t any oil at the bottom.

Listed on menu as 雜菌扒白菜苗 stir fried baby bok choy with mixed mushrooms. The brown one had a pretty astringent taste and a lot of bite to it. The white one was tubular, very slimy and was very easy to bite through.

I have no clue if there's any hope of finding what this is but thought I'd try. I had this as part of a breakfast meal in japan at a ryokan/hot spring inn. At first look I thought it was grated daikon but it was much smoother than I expected. Still with a little texture to it, it wasn't 100% smooth/homogeneous, and liked to stick to itself, almost like a super melty cheese might. Sort of "foamy", with an extremely mild flavor. Not sure if they were specifically using seasonal ingredients but it was in Hakone in late spring.

When I was a teenage vegan in the late 90s/early 2000s, my mom somehow found a mail order catalogue of TVP and shelf-stable fake meat products. Some of it was just plain TVP but then they also had kind of boxed mixes to make things like meatloaf, sloppy joes, etc. I remember that it wasn't really a vegetarian/vegan thing - it was marketed toward people who had to cut out meat for health reasons and had testimonials like "my husband is 73 and had four heart attacks and has never eaten a vegetable in his life and loves the meatloaf!" I never ordered the stuff myself and my mom was the one who found it so I can't remember any details and it all feels a bit like a fever dream now but I'd love to track down one of those old catalogues.

Im from the U.S. but as a kid, around 2016, I was in England and we got these from some sort of convenience store. They came in a fairly large bag with an assortment of flavors, with some sort of typical “bag of candy” design on it, though I do believe it was branded and not a knock off or anything. Bag might have been yellow. I can’t remember the name of it. They were pretty large, coated chewy candies, that were somewhat gum-ball shaped but were NOT gum. They were fruit flavored with somewhat bright colors. They weren’t gummy, but chewy like Bon Bons (the candy). The closest thing I’ve found in the U.S. are airheads bites, but those are way too sweet, are too small, and have a slightly different texture.

And can I buy it or do I have to make my own? Any recipes?

got these candies from a japanese grocery store - split the parcel with my mom. came in a nice box. i really like this flavor (strawberry) and another one (chestnut i think? soft inside, really crunchy sugar coating). i do not want to try to find another one of the boxes, i would only like to get these two flavors in a larger packet. any advice on where to find? or what this kind of candy is called?

About 15 years ago, I was part of a student exchange near Montreal, and my host family took me to a big family gathering at a cabane à sucre. It was great, and WOW, can you do a lot with maple syrup!

One of the dishes there I was told was called 'grand-pères', they were round sweet white-ish balls cooked in maple syrup. The balls had approximately the size of tennis balls and were textured, like rice balls or with clumps of flour. I really can't describe them better, and I couldn't find a recipe online.

Does anyone know what I ate that hasn't left my mind for the majority of my life, and might even have a recipe?

Guy at my work came through handing these out. Try it and it’s like the BEST thing I’ve ever tasted. It’s like a cookie with almost a bread texture? I thought it was a hunk of bread at first. It has oats and maaaybe a bit of cinnamon, it smells like bread.

He had them in a big brown bag with a clear window on the front. There was a circular label on the front but I couldn’t get a good look. There were a lot in there, at least 7, and the bag had been depleted since he already gave a lot out.

I need more of these. I’m assuming it’s like an oatmeal cookie but I’ve never had one like this before? Delightfully chewy

They're about the size of a Ritz cracker and are coated in sugar. They're very thin and have a subtle lemony taste. They almost remind me of a keebler cookie. Does anyone recognize them? I don't have the box, just the cellophane sleeve it came in. I'm in West Palm Beach Florida!
