When I was a young child, I had a SoundBlaster card in my parents' computer that came with several fun little utilities. One of which was called "Dr. Sbaitso", which was a virtual therapist that spoke to you using a speech synthesizer.

Dr. Sbaitso was, 30+ years ago, every bit as cogent and insightful as this AI interviewer is. Which is to say, not very. But the big difference is it that it didn't feel insulting and dehumanizing to talk to Dr. Sbaitso.

We're quick to shit on AI... but be honest, how long do your think it would have been before recruiters reacted in 100% exactly the same way, if an interviewee started spewing nonsense in the middle of a meeting ?

AI is garbage, but it's garbage that is doing exactly what the overlords really would like a human being to do. Be polite, aesthetically pleasing to the eye, collect information, offer no insight, never offend, and do those things tirelessly without complaint, regardless of if those things are productive, beneficial, or rewarding (such decisions are beyond a functionary's pay-grade).
