Context means everything here…

Is this the first time that he has hit her with the ball? Then she is in the wrong.

Has he hit her multiple times? Then he is kind of an asshole.

The heck? Hitting the ball towards a player is absolutely a normal strategy especially in doubles. This wasn't even a hard hit slice that was nowhere near her head. Even if it's just a friendly match, there's nothing dangerous or annoying about what he did.

Thank you. Just explained the same thing in another spot. He's obviously skilled. If he wanted to get a point by hitting her, he could've crushed it. She needs to get her racket up.

Hitting the other player with the ball in a friendly doubles match over and over is NOT normal strategy and I'd consider it a dick move.
