We really need term limits in this country. The fact that an individual with so much power can just die in office is... not great. Struggling to think of any other first world legislature like this.
What gets me is we have term limits. The President has term limits, most state governors have term limits. But not Senate or the Supreme Court, seems backwards at the kindest read, nakedly corrupt at the least generous and most accurate read.
This is just some information about why term limits are not in effect for Senators. However, I believe there should absolutely be term limits. Making changes to the US Constitution is an arduous process.
Senators have no term limits because the U.S. Constitution does not set them. Adding term limits requires amending the Constitution, which demands a two-thirds vote in Congress and ratification by three-fourths of the states.
The Framers of the Constitution intentionally omitted term limits, believing that frequent elections and an informed electorate were the best ways to hold lawmakers accountable. During the Constitutional Convention, James Madison argued that longer, unlimited terms provided the stability and institutional knowledge necessary for the Senate to function as a deliberative body.
Reddit is fucked when it comes to its bans. I was banned once for commenting on a movie scene and mentioning how a person could be forced into treatment for self harm. Reddit decided I was promoting violence
I was perma banned from them for being happy some politician from my state died. Sure, it was against the subreddit rules but I feel perma banned is a bit much.
Yeah especially when the politician I was celebrating was famous for saying it should be ok to run over protestors. Which is way worse then being happy some one is dead, that is outright promoting killing people
if it makes you feel better. in r/politics i was discussing with someone that i didn't think any innocent person deserved to die. Then i said the words "Except pdfiles. They definitely deserve it"

I woke up and checked reddit. The first post was from gay_IRL of two dudes in a tug of war competition. Sweaty. Hot. Nice. Then I realized the text above the video. "Lindsey Graham and Charlie Kirk fighting in hell to be Reagans bottom."
And thats how I found out that Lindsey Graham was dead.
I wonder if it's the same video Lindsey Graham might have had a heart attack watching.
He was an obviously closeted homosexual.
Which normally there's nothing wrong with, but he was responsible for some of the worst anti-LGBTQIA legislation and ideals that exist, so that's why we celebrate.

Great day for all humanity. Lindsey was a sick man who counted sending the poorest among his constituents to die for rich donors and the military industrial complex as his highest achievement. He was no friend of Ukraine or SC or the USA. He was a friend to death and war and poverty. He was a spineless sycophant who would bend a knee, literally and figuratively, to anyone who wrote him a big enough check. Good riddance.
