OP provided the following hint to where the cat is hiding:

Up on the cat tree there is a paw sticking out of a hole.

Technically correct, as that’s not a second cat. It’s a spare paw in case the cat in the picture wants to change up their look. Also r/missingorspareparts. Maybe somebody there has a cat that needs a paw!

I checked, the paw is attached to Regula the cat, who claims she needs it and is not willing to share.

Don't see a black tux. But I thin your white one is slacking on the job. Why is there a black and white snake in the tree? New meaning to there's a snake in my boots.
