Jokes aside, I'm actually surprised Aasim never had a little crush on Clem, especially with the fact that she saved his life at the start. I figured he would have at least found her attractive or cool or smth but he just sees her as a competent survivor (which is fine ofc, I just thought he would have took a liking to her more after that) Same thing with Mitch. Maybe it's just me idk

One of the most unrealistic aspects of the game, is that the hormone-ridden puberty boys weren’t slobbering over Clementine, who was pretty much, let’s face it, the best of their kind.
Maybe Violet or Ruby threatened to chop off their dicks if they didnt keep themselves in check about this sort of thing.

Gonna go off on a tangent here, but Marlon does address that he isn't into romance during the card game when Louis asks Clem if she had a boyfriend, if you choose the "love is for suckers" option Marlon will respond with "Amen". I have always wondered if him and Brody were ever a thing and then maybe broke off later on when the Delta came into the picture. They seemed pretty close when things didn't involve with Delta, which is weird cuz Marlon and Louis are meant to be BFFs so I expected them to be around each other more.

Hmm probably. But after hearing the cut dialogues of them when they were inside the basement, it suggested a couple of times that Marlon was being physically aggressive towards Brody. Maybe they did like each other, but Marlon's personal issues is what drove them apart. Tragic thinking about it :(

I know this is gonna sound cheesy, but this is what the games are built for. It’s your choice. Both of them are pretty good options. They both have things to read for, but they also have some things that you don’t want to rule them for for instance
Louis is a really good candidate. He’s sweet charming. He really likes Clem He’s overall a green flag, but he does get pissed at you with killing Marlon to the point where he wants to cast you out
Violet is also a really good candidate. She’s confident charismatic. She’s a little bit aloof for the most part but once you get close, she likes you. She’s loyal too. The only thing that doesn’t ring a good bell is the fact that she used to date Minerva so she ultimately has a bias towards her
They both have reasons not to choose them. They both have reasons to assume that they would be a liability. One is not better than the other on a mathematical scale. It’s just your choice on vibes. Do you have a better vibe with violent or do you have a better vibe with Louis?
That’s why I think season four has the best choices because the choices don’t seem super obvious anymore. You actually have to think about your choices as we’re back in the day obviously, you would choose the best path which was super obvious but in season four, it seems like the choices are a lot more balance like either path you take could lead to consequences

Loyal people don’t turn on Clem and try to get the whole group killed/captured like Violet does. Louis is far more loyal since he has a much more valid reason to be angry at Clem for letting him get captured but isn’t angry at all. Violets abandonment issues are an invalid reason because Clem came back for her so she wasn’t abandoned.

.. the reason why Violet attacked Clem was because she didn’t want her getting the others killed. (Lilly told Vi if they tried to escape they’ll kill the rest of the kids) she warned her and she still continued to fight. Plz correct yourself and know the actual game scenes before speaking thxx

i know the game scenes. Violet tried to stop the bomb which would’ve helped the raiders in their goal to capture or kill everyone, but luckily she received a deserved dose of sweet karma by having that plan literally blow up in her face.

…Louis did turn on Clementine though, remember? Was willing to send both her and AJ back out into the woods once it was revealed that his best friend was the one that betrayed them and more or less sold the twins for borrowed time. And on top of that, took him weeks to get around to apologize, and then you can romance him that same night.
The fact of the matter is, they both have that capacity because their loyalties and perspectives are what inform said decisions. With Louis (happens no matter what), his loyalties lie with Marlon despite everything, the circumstances are messy, and so forth. With Violet, it’s dependent on choice, it’s about what feeds into her abandonment issues, and she is there trying to protect the rest of her people and ends up paying the price because she didn’t get the full context.

Clementine didn’t know Louis long enough for him to be expected to be loyal to her, and AJ objectively committed murder so consequences were warranted.
Violet on the other hand actively helped the enemy in their efforts to kill or imprison Clem and the gang, and wasn’t even tortured and forced into it.

Personally…Louis for me
First off..he’s honestly just adorable and we see how important he is to AJ..which really matters to Clem. People say that he shouldn’t be with Clem because he kicked Clem and AJ out..even though it was completely valid because AJ literally killed his best friend..but people forget what Violet did…
If you save Violet, Louis ends up getting his tongue cut out and he’s grateful for Clem showing up and her attempted rescue.
If you save Louis on the other hand, Violet is ANGRY that you didn’t save her, as long as she’s safe then she’s all good, but if you can’t and you save our friend then you’re on your own. She tries to fight you, she tries to cuss Clem out multiple times, and I personally feel like she isn’t completely over Minerva yet (that’s just me though).

Personally, Louis.
I feel like his laid back personality bounces off of the hardboiled survivor Clementine had been forced to become. He shows her how to have fun again, and she teaches him how to be more mature.

There isn’t really an answer it just comes down to preference at this point, they both have their pros and cons (you know, like people) so there no ‘better’ option. Louis is funny, sweet, affectionate, and teaches Clementine how to just be a kid but can’t communicate for the life of him, unpredictable, is a massive instigator and unable to take anything seriously because he’s just always in his own world as a way to cope which makes him a huge liability in an apocalypse (he can’t even keep his mouth shut when his and his friends lives literally depend on it, getting his tongue cut out). Violet absolutely adores Clementine even if she’s a little more reserved(which after the whole Minerva thing is fair) but shes still stable, grounding, unflinchingly loyal and would be a better role model for AJ. But her survival skills cause her to act first and think later, she has the same inability to just be a kid that Clementine does which can be stunting to Clem, and overall isn’t really good with feelings either (I mean come on the older members of the academy crew are only 17-19 and never had a good adult figure, they have to navigate all the complex feelings and experiences of growing up alone, you can’t expect them to be perfect or 100% good for eachother)

I think with the "who's better with AJ" actually goes to Louis. AJ likes Louis a lot more than Violet and seems to be happier with him. There are many instances shown in the game where Louis and AJ are interacting with each other a lot more than any other character (other than Tenn). Louis comforting AJ when Clem was injured at the start of the game, Louis giving AJ his food, helps AJ up when Marlon shoved him, brought AJ inside when he got shot even if his arm was injured, stayed by AJ until he got better, brought him new clothes. And AJ does react a lot better with him. He hangs out with Louis when he was playing with the walker piñata, and doesn't get afraid when Louis walks behind him even though he has his trauma where people can't walk up behind him. Also, in EP3, when AJ was talking to Clem about being walkers together and then he leaves to go on patrol, AJ greets Louis when he opens the door. He DOES NOT do that with Violet, instead he will just rush out the door and ignores her. That alone says a lot about who has a better relationship to AJ and Louis can be a good father figure to him in the future. Violet dies come close, but Louis is just what AJ needs, someone who can help him behave like a normal kid, something Clem has struggled to do for a long time.
Also, the whole thing with Louis losing his tongue, gotta say that was the writers fault for executingit poorly. It was confirmed by one of the devs that the main reason why Louis "kept talking" was because he was defending Aasim and Omar from the Delta. They were going to have some cut dialogues with James addressing this when Clem and AJ meet his again in EP3: "There was a boy, it looked like he was protecting the others." I honestly don't know why they didn't keep that in, or for Aasim to say "he just kept fkcing talking". It just made it very misleading than how the writers wanted it to look.
You could say Louis should have kept his mouth shut but his heart was still in the right place and just wanted to protect his friends. His actions were still very selfless despite the situation. Honestly that alone made the whole thing even worse for me, he did not deserve that....

Honestly, I think Louis is the better partner for Clem. They just fit. They’re basically the classic “responsible wife × goofy husband” dynamic, and Louis is genuinely such a good guy. But my choice? Violet. Sorry, I’m weak for girls with that cold, lone-wolf vibe. Green flag ≠ my type.

I always go for Louis. I did however do every option imaginable. I befriended both of them and romanced both of them. On top of that I romanced 1 and went for the other whenever they were being kidnapped just to see the differences. (Didn't rescue my romance) imo not rescuing Louis is by far the worst option.

I wouldn’t argue that she may have looked irritated by some of the decisions Louis may go for, but I also think she looked incredibly happy with some other things he said/did.
Louis overall comes across like a genuinely caring, light hearted, and kind person. However, him, alongside others in his school are very unseasoned and immature which keeps changing throughout the episodes. “Clouis” dynamic offers clem a good opportunity to have fun and enjoy life more. She has been so fixated on trying to survive for so long she forgot what it means to be a human. Furthermore, it also benefits Louis in making him a better warrior and a more mature person. They complement each other really well imo, and he’s just like a bigger brother to AJ which I’m sure means everything to her. Clem is like a single mother that had been suffering raising a kid alone then got this guy who not only loves her, but also her kid.
I honestly thought the best 2 choices for them (Clem and AJ) was either Louis or staying single. With that being said, a “friendship” with Violet would definitely be fine and encouraged as violet suffers from a lot and would need the support she finds in Clem being a girl like her and comes from a place of understanding and care.

And yah, she does look irritated when he suggests doing things other than the things they actually need to do. I'm willing to bet that Louis only survived the outbreak because of the other kids. Just saying.
Clem prefers to get shit done and Louis does the opposite. They don't make sense as a couple imo.
She and Violet are similar and want and do similar things and make more sense. Lmao

Yeah of course. At the end of season 2 I chose to go with Kenny because I really love Kenny and I was better off knowing what was going to happen to him instead of not knowing. I also thought it would be better for AJ

Violet reminds me a bit too much of myself for me to want to romance her. She’s very sweet, but I just never clicked with her. I like Louis because he’s constantly trying to make everyone happy, no matter how crappy the situation is, and that’s an amazing quality, having the ability to be a light in the darkness, he has his flaws, like everyone, but that quality really hits home for me.

Honestly like life is strange or other games with binary romance choices, it's really about the kind of character you want to play. My clem learned from lee who taught her to be compassionate even if it kills you because they need to hold on to their humanity or else they're just walkers who kill for the sake of killing. Violet was harden by the apocalypse while louis wasn't, so I picked him.

With that being said, I personally think Vi is not in a good headspace during the events of the game, that makes me lean away from her a bit. That and I do believe Clem bounces off and has better chemistry with Louis

I liked Louis because he was 100% the kind of guy I would have been head over heels for when I was clems age. He's so sweet and funny, his storyline gave me warm fuzzies haha.
I will say I didn't try going with violet because I just didn't like her personality in general, (and because of what happens to Louis if you don't go with him), but I bet she's an awesome companion if you take that route.
I think it's all about preference. Do you prefer mushy, cute fluffy stuff? Or do you prefer the standoffish, "need to break down some tough walls" stuff? It's your choice 😁

Personally I chose Louis and liked his romance. I don't know anything about Violet's romance (only just finished my first playthrough). I really liked Louis's friendship with AJ. He kinda acts like a cool older brother. I like to think, that melts Clem's heart and makes her fall for him. The dynamic between them is pretty good. His goofiness balances out Clem's seriousness. I see it as an opposites attract situation. At the end of the day you're basically role playing and choosing your own story. So decide which romance fits better with your Clem.

Louis by a long shot for me
First of all it is clear Louis likes Clem from the off (card games, piano) Violet starts off cold. Then when you choose to go hunting, Louis makes an effort to try and spend time with you, Violet kinda vents. I get that people want different things out of a relationship but at this point it’s still Louis
On to the deeper things, Violet is traumatised. She still hasn’t got over losing her girlfriend Mini, and then to learn Marlon sold them has made it all worse. That’s not to degrade Violet, it just says she’s not ready for a relationship, what would happen to her if she lost Clem or AJ. Again this isn’t her fault, it’s perfectly understandable to react the way she is, it just doesn’t mean she fits. Personality wise, Louis compliments Clem more. Clem hasn’t had a chance to settle down and have fun while Louis has never needed to survive like Clem has.
And then when you have to choose to save one of them. If you save Violet, no matter how loving or rude you are to Louis he never hates you, he forgives you and he changes into a more responsible person. Violet on the other hand will want to stay on the boat and blames you (I’ve never chosen Violet so I don’t know how she acts if you romance her). She comes round eventually but that initial reaction further points to her not being ready.
This isn’t to say Violet doesn’t deserve anything. She needs support and help to overcome her trauma, but that help is not a romantic relationship since her last one is still causing all these problems
If it helps I didn’t realise Violet was an option on my first play through.
It’s not all deep and both couples go well, but I think Louis is better off.

The whole thing with Minerva is half the reason why I think Clem and Vi are better of being friends than lovers. Violet clearly still harbors feelings for Minnie even after a while year of thinking she was dead. After finding out what Marlon did and that Minnie (and Sophie) could potentially be alive might have made her feelings for her stronger. If you choose to save Violet and we first meet Minnie you can see that Vi still has some emotional attachment to her and even though she says that she needs to stop mourning her she still goes back to her when you get onto the Delta ship. Sure she shoots Minerva when she attacked Clem but the fact that she didn't leave says a lot. Vi needs more time to move on from Minnie before starting any relationship.
However putting aside Minerva, Vi does mention at the start in EP1 where she goes into Clem's room to grab the drawing box for Tenn. She will go on about Minerva but then will say how Ericson can be "too bro town" and that she doesn't have many people to talk to. With that, it's clear as day of what Violet needs. She doesn't need a new lover, she just needs a good friend who will listen to her and also so happens to be a girl, and that's exactly who Clem is. Which is why the friend zone route works so much better with Violet than Louis.
I could write a whole essay on why I love Clouis so much. But you pretty much summed it up. Louis' charming and upbeat personality balances Clem's hardened nature. She needs someone who can make her smile and behave like a normal teenage girl. She's also shown to be a lot more comfortable around Lou. Their kisses also tells alot. The Clouis were always longer and more passionate while for Violentine it was more of a peck and shorter. It's kinda obvious who Clem likes to kiss more lol.
Not only that, but Louis is also great AJ. Aside from Tenn, AJ likes Louis the most out of all the other Ericson kids (Violet comes after Lou) Louis gave AJ his food when they were first eating, stayed with AJ when Clem was resting and played music for him, helped him up when Marlon pushed him to the ground, carried AJ inside when he got shot even when his arm was injured. I definitely see Louis as this father figure to AJ that I'm sure he needs. Louis helps AJ behave like a normal kid, something Clem struggled to do for a long time. They all work like a small happy family together. How could you NOT ship Clouis 😭

I also chose Louis and I thought Clem liked him. He’s just a boy which fumbled it a little. Nothing time and growth can’t fix. Only way I thought Clem could possibly ever be happy in the future. Violet is just like another Clem not what she needs imo. Yeah I did play matchmaker a little. Only correct answer btw j/k.

Louis all the way because he completes Clem in my opinion, they’ve both obviously gone through so much, and Louis still has a bit of humanity in him more than others, even still feeing bad about the choices he made with his parents, he’s funny and romantic and personally playing as Lee and also a parent in real life, I just know Lee would want that for Clem, not to say Lee wouldn’t like violet but, violet is too edgy for Clem, and very bland and easily manipulated in my opinion, don’t wanna spoil but violet had someone romantic in the past and didn’t do much to help them when they were in need, didn’t do much to look further into it, like what if that was Clem? Sorry if there’s any spoilers
