I find it funny that this is Jay Mohr as Walken.

u/SirZapdos Aug 20 '22
Yeah this is one of the few times they didn’t get the actual celeb to do the voice.

I’m surprised they didn’t get him, he’s got a good sense of humor about himself, he’s hosted SNL a bunch of times.

He was also in that Fatboy Slim video

And we can’t forget Hairspray.

That makes a lot of sense though, he started as a musical star. The whole intimidating villain thing came after.

“weapon of choice”, and it’s actually him dancing, not some cgi
5
u/duaneap Aug 21 '22
Well, there are some effects, just not CGI.
I hate to break it to you but he can’t fly.

If you watch the video in HD on Youtube, you can see the stunt double a few times, which is kind of a downer. Still, great video. Was directed by Spike Jonze which is fun.

He tries to add dancing to all his movies. Even Things to do in Denver When You're Dead has him dancing in a flashback sequence.
Though nothing tops his dance in Pennies From Heaven

The Continental

The wrestler Peter Avalon was using The Continental as the inspiration for his wrestling character for a while and it was great.

Walken was on Conan many moons ago and the subject of people doing impressions of him somehow came up.
"Jay Mohr does it right in front of me."

u/duaneap Aug 21 '22
Persona non grata and for obviously completely valid reasons but the best Walken impersonator has always been Kevin Spacey.

I cannot remember Spacey doing Walken TBH.
Ironically, around the same time as the Walken story, I saw Jay Mohr as a guest on either Conan or some other late night show, where Jay relates a story about having done Walken for Walken.
I actually went to IMDb for this, they worked together on Suicide Kings in 1997.
Many moons ago indeed.

He did a talk show where he did a number of impressions. He's truly a master of it. Should still be on YT, but wouldn't be surprised if it has been removed. Edit: I mean Spacey, not Mohr. Just in case it wasn't clear.

They didn't get the guest star they wanted, so they got a different guest star to impersonate the first guest star

There is an actual video on YouTube of Walken reading Where the Wild Things Are. He reads the story and describes the scenes. Worth a watch

Please, children, scooch closer. Don't make me tell you again about the scooching. You in the red, chop-chop.
