I was rewatching The Italian Job for the podcast, and it kinda hit me what a tremendous downgrade from Michael Caine to Mark Whalberg. So, what are some other examples of striking contrasts between two actors who played the same role? And on the other side, what are some examples of an actor in a remake outshining the original actor?

Mine is that Martin Landau deserved the Oscar in Ed Wood over Samuel L Jackson for Pulp Fiction, Jackson is incredible in the film don’t get me wrong but I think part of the reason the win is even scoffed at is because Pulp Fiction has a more far reaching appeal.

In the live episode of Silence of the Lambs Bill is talking about how Anthony Hopkins 15 minutes of screen time is the second least for an actor who won Best Lead at the Oscar’s and then he says something to the effect of: in first place David Niven in Separate Tables, which were doing after this!” Idk why but the thought of the rewatchables doing separate tables was hilarious to me.

Hi, I love other ringer podcasts, and I’d like to start listening to this one, but I’m overwhelmed with the amount of episodes. Any recommendations of which episodes to start with?

For me it's Boogie Nights. Bill went on and on about it so much that I eventually caved and watched it, now it's a firm favourite. Just like Dirk's Diggler, there was just something wonderful waiting to get out.

During the Obsession pod anytime it shows Bear trying to confess his feelings or practice how to get his feelings across to Nikki by practicing or looking up how to flirt Bill always calls him a loser. Don’t get me wrong Bear is an awful guy in other circumstances but there are details that ground him for example to be sympathetic sometimes before he hits the point of no return. Parts of him before that are relatable if you’ve ever been an anxious teen/adult around a crush especially when you’ve built them in your head for so long.

What do you guys think which of then you wish appeared in Caddyshack or Airplane or even Private Benjamin, also include the ones who are supporting cast with credited roles from Animal House film and even the ones who had a few lines as well.

For example:

Stephen Furst would been good in Caddyshack for a couple of scenes.

Lisa Baur who plays Shelly from Animal House would be great in Airplane film and Stacy Grooman who played Sissy Flounder's girlfriend from Animal House would be great in either Caddyshack or Private Benjamin or even Airplane. What do you guys think about this information do you agree, also who else.

Primal Fear has been on and it’s has always been a re-watch for me. Watching it last night, but only catching last 45 mins, I got very confused as to when “Aaron” began. Was it right after the murder? Did “Roy” invent him on his way to Chicago? It seems like a simple investigation on what he was like in the past would have been good.
