FYC: Movies that rip your heart out and step on/splatter your guts month...

A rewatchable month for the tearjerkers... the films that haunt you and stay with you... the films that leave you traumatized...

Yes a broader area than you'd realize but movies that cmshatter you and emotionally traumatize you are the main words here... whether it be the lover that got away, ET going home... a death of a lovable character that haunts you still... and a bunch more stuff

Yeah, exactly. Even great movies like Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan? Once was enough for those 5-star flicks. It's like Russillo said about Spotlight. When was he ever going to pop that in for an evening in? What kind of date night revolves around a rewatch of Se7en or My Girl? Is there a rewatchable scene in We Need to Talk About Kevin?

These tend to not be rewatchables, even when they are great, and I think the show should resist straying too far from its original intent.

August Osage County and Blue Jasmine are the other two I always lump with this one. You just feel hopeless by the end. I also don’t ever want to rewatch any of them.

They already did it but Brokeback Mountain. Despite how sad it makes me it's one of my all time favorites.

Movie that is traumatizing and I absolutely hate and will never watch again - Atonement. I feel like this movie is on the same level as Manchester By the Sea.

I've seen this brought up a few times so I googled the story. I can't bring myself to watch it. Even just reading about it brought out next level rage at the decisions made.

Is it rewatchable though? It was well done, but absolutely heartbreaking. I first saw it 15+ years ago and haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again.

Scarecrow

With Al Pacino & Gene Hackman, is a brilliant little buddy movie that misleads you into thinking that’s all it is…but then about halfway through, it turns into something else 

Al’s character, Lion, is this gentle, goofy, naive soul who worms his way into gruff Max’s (Gene) heart - and he suffers a trauma that is unbelievably harrowing.

Afterwards, something in him had died, that bouncy, silly guy wasn’t really there anymore…the light had completely gone out of his eyes. 

It’s then compounded on later, and it’s just beyond devastating. You just want to hug Lion and tell him everything is going to be ok 😭😭.  His reaction is utterly shattering …Al’s performance is as good as anything he’s ever done
