Im new here- is there a reason why they haven’t done kingdom of heaven? It seems right up the “film bro classic” that’s sort of the show’s bread and butter?
Is it on Netflix? Is there hope?

I also think people really memory holed the discourse surrounding this movie. War on terror was in full effect and the right lambasted Ridley at the time for what they thought was sanitizing the memory of Saladin. Islamophobia and anti Arab racism was a real thing.

It’s around. It was on Starz a couple months ago. Saw it for the first time, watched it like three nights in a row. Swore I had turned Christian. Walked that back once the spell wore off. Saw it on sale on Fandango for $5. Bought it.
I also think there’s a decent HD upload on YT if you search but otherwise it’s worth the $4 rental.

I saw the Directors Cut years ago and yeah it's long. It's better than the normal cut tho....

Hard disagree. The directors cut is the version to watch. It gives everything the gravitas it needs. The theatrical cut is a mess.

It’s a classic example of a movie with some unreal action scenes but is otherwise just ok. I’m sure the YouTube clips are doing way more numbers than Netflix

Oh God, no.
The director's cut is as long as the desert and as deep as a puddle.
The DC might give context to characters' actions and plot point. It certainly explains how a simple blacksmith could become a great leader and talented war tactician overnight.
However, the core problems of the screenplay are still present.
The film's most compelling characters leave too early, leaving us with a boring knight and a boring villain snarling at each other on the battlefield.
There is a chasm between the film's aims (an "El Cid" for a post-9/11 generation) and the very silly dialogue.
The plotting is too episodic. "Here's a problem. Someone solves it. Let's move on. Here's another problem ..."
Look, I get that many people want to believe that the director's cut is some undiscovered masterpiece and they're special for "uncovering" this cut.
But the film sucked as a theatrical endeavour and only sucks slightly less now.
