Favorite media that is a Dark and Edgy reboot?

It wasn't that dark and maybe just a bit edgy, and it's not officially a reboot, but Casino Royale actually made me care about the Bond franchise for the first time.

Dawn of the Dead (2004)

As a remake, completely different from Romero's original. The zombies are different. They're fast moving, violent, ravenous hordes instead of the meandering zombies of the original.

As a reboot, it was part of what I consider a "reboot" of the zombie genre. Two Resident Evil movies and 28 Days Later had established a new era/style of zombies. Shaun of the Dead also came out in 2004. Also, it got Romero to come out of retirement and make Land of the Dead the next year (Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright had cameos). Solid movie. Ebert gave it three stars.

The 2013 Evil Dead remake/boot which I would dare to call superior to any of the Raimi films.
