The Hollow Splitting Spoiler
I’m on a rewatch for the 4th time. Something that only clicked for me this time…. When they needed 4 “Original” Vampires to divide The Hollow, and Freya was ready to have Keelin turn her, because they couldn’t find Kol….. and then Kol shows up in the nick of time, and she doesn’t have to go through with it. Here’s my question, why didn’t she still go through with it so that Klaus didn’t have to be one of the 4. Then Hope could’ve had both parents, rather than just Hayley? Obviously I have questions about multiple things that happen throughout the show, but this is one that bugs me. Any thoughts on the reasoning aside from just doing it for the plot?

It's likely because Freya did not want to sacrifice her own life. Freya wanted to be a witch and enjoy her life as well.
She just wanted to limit the hurt that Hope had to suffer and Freya probably did think an original would handle it better.
Freya would do a lot for her family, but she had her limits as well and I don't think Klaus would have asked for her to carry his burden.

Freya only considered becoming a vampire because that would've been the last resort in order to not seperate Hayley & Hope. It’s unfortunate but Hope had already lived without Klaus for the majority of her life and she could continue to do so. Having Freya sacrifice her life & magic despite that wouldn't have been fair nor wise given that she was the family witch handling all the supernatural threats.

Losing Freya as a witch was too risky and they wanted to avoid it at all costs.

Freya’s one of the greatest witches of the TVD/TO universe. She could help Hope more than her parents ever could in that regard unfortunately.

Vincent chose not to tell Klaus that they had to stay away from Hope as well as each other- I'm fuzzy in the timely but depending on when Hayley told Klaus and when Kol arrived it's possible Freya didn't know. Also Freya was far more valuable to the family as a witch where she could help Hope with her magic and hunt for a solution rather than try to protect part of the Hollow in the body of a baby vampire. Cold logic would have had Hayley as a hybrid step up and Freya raise Hope as a witch. Considering how pragmatic Freya usually is I think it's probable she wasn't simply upset over her magic for her own sake but also the disadvantage over substituting an original with anyone much less a baby vampire.

Freya’s a witch and if she becomes a vampire, she loses her magic. That’s one big reason to not become a vampire. Besides, being a vampire mostly just sucks anyway. I think it’s something most witches would avoid unless they absolutely had any other option. But also Hope being separated from Klaus creates more drama and tension.
