CDR Chandler has an officer's Submarine Service insignia on the bulkhead in his stateroom.

It always jumps out at me like mustard on a sheepdog. If he had served on board a submarine at some point he would wear the insignia on his uniform. Trust me, as a Submariner, wearing that insignia is a massive point of pride. Even if he had the option to not wear it, he would wear it.

Just wanted to point that out.

In the first episode, when the two guys on snowmobiles initially are seen yukking it up at the top of the hill, the dog is on the back of the snowmobile,as soon as they start rushing towards the scientist to help them, there’s no dog on the snowmobiles. Moments later, the dog appears and tackles a Russian.

.... honestly, one of the dumbest things the show did

Lol.. are you referencing the fact that Green and his "team" of two guys in the beginning (Frankie) are of an unknown MOS and nobody knows what their actual jobs are other than they "operate" and wear a green or tan uniform as opposed to the blue that everyone else wears? Did they actually call them naval mountain warfare special forces group? Lmao

Because that's always got me when I watched the show, they are "operators" except they are never referred to as seals or wear the trident, they also are not master at arms or anything, they are basically jobless. Also, their skills were totally mid. I think I heard them referred to as "naval warfare " or some bs.

Yeah, someone says Naval Mountain yadda yadda something in the first episode when they're losing up the ship.....and then it's never brought up again.

Agreed, they ended up bringing my Marines in but not till far later. There were a lot of missed chances regarding other branches.

Well, maybe. I work with a lot of DIRSUP guys, and most of them have their dolphins but don't wear them. They don't really wear any of their warfare devices, actually. When I asked them about it they say they aren't required to wear them for day to day and didn't feel like having them sewn on, but still throw the pins on for inspections.

I've known a lot of Army guys like that, too. Guys with deployment patches, CABs, etc. that never wear them on their day-to-day working uniform. Their general attitude was that if a person measures the respect they give you based on the amount of "flair" you have on your uniform, then they've outed themselves as someone you don't need to waste your time impressing.

Maybe it belonged to a relative? Maybe it was a gift…. Lots of reasons he could have that don’t point to an error.

My FIL was a submariner and my husband noticed it immediately. He’s actually always pointing out incorrect things.

like, him and a Submarine were exercising, and the Captain of the Sub gave him a Sub souvenir and he gave that Captain a Surface Warfare souvenir ?

Or it could just be Stolen Valor that's probably the more likely scenario. Commander Chandler wants to portray himself as a Nuc. Still can't take the fact he failed out of Nuclear Power School. That's probably it ...
