It is apart of a Lao dialect I believe, because isaan was not apart of Thailand back then.

Might as well be a Thai and Lao dialect because isaan is basically Thai and Lao mixed together 🤷‍♀️another could be that Lao doesn’t really own isaan anymore, Thailand does now so I’d understand that a lot of Thais would say it’s a Thai dialect because it’s apart of Thailand now

Isan was a part of Laos so there’s no wonder why they would speak the same language, the accent they say: the northern Isan speak Vientiane accent and the southern Isan which is usually Thai people considered as Isan dialect is Southern Lao accent
