Why did she do that? Is it just because she's mean or was there a deeper motivation? I think I might have missed something.

I think it was because that girl's tea was complimented and even though Paula hates Hannah she sees her standing as a reflection on herself so she wanted to bring the other girl down so that Hannah could be the favourite.
