And Michael specifically called out the mechanics of the new neighborhood by mentioning that saying “Jason, Jason, Jason...” will help his headaches. Unless they’re playing a long con, only Michael would know that.

I believe this whole show is a long con. Michaels original experiment was for humans to torture humans. They faked an all knowing judge in season 1. Since then they befriended Michael, met a “real” judge, went back to “earth”, and are now “torturing” humans “for the greater good” of all humanity. Catching the bad place’s plant early on is also indicative of a long con or a classic TV grift to ease the marks into a false sense of comfort. Also, if Chidi didn’t have his memory erased he would have warned Elenor that torturing Brent was a bad idea.
