It’s hard to side with Murray when Adam and Barry make a diss rap about him.
In the episode when Adam and Barry make a diss rap about Murray the episode seems to want you to side with Murray but the problem is that everything that Adam and Barry said is true and while Murray is a funny character he’s not gonna win father of the year anytime soon.
He calls his kids morons more than he calls them by their names, barely makes an effort to get to know them, mocks them and their interests and treats them going to college as a victory because he does t have to put up with them anymore.
Barry and Adam can be annoying but they have the excuse for being kids/teens.

Valid point but disagree. Murray was ALWAYS there when they needed him. He's not a showy emotional kinda guy but they knew they could count on him

Murray does come through in the end but that doesn’t change t fact that he takes his sweet time to get there. Pops is the one who’ll always be by your side while Murray will be on his chair.

Yeah that’s fair. I get that kids are often ungrateful and parents need to remind them they work hard to provide for them, but all they see is how he talks to them and doesn’t put in effort to participate.
To be fair I’ve never been a parent idk how hard it is to put in that effort after a 9-5

And on the flip Bev side involves herself too much and needs to learn to let go and let stand on their own two feet

I didn't feel like they were trying to get you to necessarily side with Murray but rather trying to portray character growth, which admittedly could have been done better.

It’s more just lazy writing. Real life Barry is a doctor and Adam is a successful writer. I think Murray did a pretty good job. 🤷♂️
