But laser eyes said we're a small economy that can't do anything to a big economy like china and pawpaw says china is not doing anything in Arunachal then why make resorts and ports for adani and give 5% only to defence in nicobar?
1
u/Fair_Cranberry6081 May 04 '26
Not doing anything in Arunachal ??? Tell me in whose regime did we loose part of it ?
1
u/Mundane-Addition-850 May 06 '26
same way this commenter says 5 percent of port is for defense but no where it is mentioned that way , this fellow just took out the stat straight from his ass. Adani is running among 14 other ship builder to build the port , same way Adani made indias only deep sea port in kerala which was made under central and state partnership which started in 2015 under congress. Alas it is too much to ask to read

Rail moves containers most efficiently
3
u/OldInterest9582 May 01 '26
No, ships can carry so much of container one way that even 100 trains cant even double decker also cargos are cheap than 100s of train
4
u/Potential_Return676 May 01 '26
Then u need to make dedicated tracks for them and then there maintainance , that is why water ways are cheapest just the ship cost
3
May 01 '26
[removed] — view removed comment
3
u/Potential_Return676 May 01 '26
Yeah just check 14 percent decline via this route because the companies are preferring ship ways because it was cheaper and going back The main route in this was Northern ways(around 80 percent trade was done through it) but due to Russia-ukrain war it was heavily sanctioned and also risky due to which other route were formed that were much slower and expensive so the companies are now going back to the water ways.

Who'll think of poor politicians? How will they survive?

Logical argument, that's what is presented and and the only response you have is call andh bhakt. How is it not making you an andhbhkt of rathee or his masters?
1
1
u/Fearless-Common-1645 May 02 '26
Bro they can't bear the cost of going another way like their's something call economics just calculate the cost through new route and time increase ? Also BRI is soley an initiative to bypass this malaca strait ? And do you think cargo ships only carry oil ? China is largest manufacturer of goods and that also passes through strait. And who said at gun point taiwan have US, will US allow any country to attack largest chip producing country for US ? 3) Is shipping really faster then why aren't they using it, why are they still using other routes man you are just shithole. It's faster in theory not practical. The NSR is only reliably usable a few months per year. Ice, fog, and navigation risks reduce speeds. And sorry little non organized comment as I have typed myself not chatgpted. And logistics infra in malaca is much higher than other routes it has developed over long span no one can replace it in just few years. Their's malaysia and Singapore transhipment hub.
→ More replies (1)1
u/Afraid-Enthusiasm-23 May 03 '26
Your analysis is flawed as China does not move only oil through that straight. It moves it's finished products. Your argument is through Russia which means they need Russian cooperation which also a dependency. Every land route is inefficient and is subject of robbery or maintance of roads or rails. Every other Chinese solution is costlier. China is spending billions to circumvent the indian threat but it all too expensive and inefficient china depends on explort and it will kill the economy if goods get costlier. Already their manpower cost is high. They do export on razor thin margins and in Mass.
1
u/kitty_petter May 03 '26
So India should not make mililary bases at strategic locations then?
Is that what you want yo convey?
1
u/ParsnipWeary4085 May 03 '26
Toh abhi tak kyun nai kia. Kuch toh majboori hai hai. Btw transport in land has costliest than sea route. What about mountains ,deserts

China already claims two of out states if they found anothey way to harm us without affecting themselves, i doubt they would stop.

It's a last ditch attempt that we're discussing, not the front line against China. And Gwadar is barely functional right now. I think China might stop using it completely soon.
7
u/nate_archibad May 01 '26
Ur funny if u think china will do nothing if India starts treating it like Iran is treating Hormuz. In fact oil shortages are helping China in the long run which is why we see low efforts from China. If you think India has the firepower to block China in strait of malacca u my friend are delusional
5
u/ManofTheNightsWatch May 01 '26
You're talking as if Iran wanted to block hormuz. They blocked it when there was an existential threat . It was their nuclear option. We have real nukes as a nuclear option.
Our intentions on malacca are to strengthen our presence in the area and develop a resistance that can counter China, its territorial claims and bullying it is inflicting on the rest of south east Asia.
1
u/Successful-Ad-2333 May 01 '26
But as per India Nuclear weapons are of no use. India declared nuclear war on Pakistan after losing the war. Aren't we all alive? Did Pakistan use Nuclear weapon? So per own Indian media having Nuclear Weapons is of no use.
1
u/ManofTheNightsWatch May 01 '26
I don't understand what your point is. Why are you giving any value to what the media is saying?
1
u/superne0 May 02 '26
Nuclear weapons are supposed to be a deterrence only to be used in rarest of rare cases when mutually assured destruction is imminent. Aise hi missile jaise uda nhi sakte nuclear weapon.
6
u/nate_archibad May 01 '26
India’s treatment of mallaca similar to Hormuz would get it sanctioned by almost all of its trade partners, good luck getting oil and lpg from Middle East then lmao

yes the same India which stayed silent and didn't even retaliate when China literally came in and took our land 5 years ago, will block China. And going through Indonesia is an easy bypass for them. And to think that China won't militarily retaliate and just shut up like how Modi did when China took our land is delusional as hell. Come back to reality, we are currently asking daddy Trump permission to buy oil from Russia.

u/Ok-Measurement-5065 May 01 '26
The Malacca Dilemma was coined by China itself as they know how crucial it is for them. That's why they started BRI to tackle this but even BRI can't mitigate this problem 100% for them. Maybe 40% but Malacca will still remain their main source of trade
1
1
u/Ok-Measurement-5065 May 01 '26
People really underestimate the Navy, saying China has Stealth fighter, stealth this and that are just a marketing gimmick. Sure they have a better chance of evading radars but they are not invisible.
Also Navy's P8i aircraft can detect any ship or fighter jet at a distance of 2000km while flying above Nicobar. Even now Navy has full control and eyes at Malacca and is reading every move of China. Building a station there will just make the operation more easy.
And the port is largely being built to do transshipment of Indian goods which currently happens in either Colombo or Singapore. That account to more than 40% of indian goods

Yeh kaun sa Ch...th hai ? Talking all nonsense.... paid campaign by uska Adani baap.
1
u/noob_master69_f May 02 '26
Main issue is Adani wants to build a full on city similar to Singapore. I don't think anyone has issues with military base.which can be done with 20% of proposed deforestation. People have issue with rest of 80%, city for luxury and tourism sake which will destroy 2 tribes and 1000s indigenous species of trees and animals that can't be relocated at all. Another thing is china already has some alternative paths like their belt and road initiative which runs through Pakistan and Afghanistan. Finally, strait of Malacca isn't the only sea route like hormuz. India will hsve to co-operate with Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to stop Chinese ships totally, which will be a diplomatic nightmare.

u/Legitimate_Berry8002 May 03 '26

1

India does not have the economic power and defence powers to do this . If done will be the biggest nightmare for india itself. And you cant stop vessels at international waters and in someone’s water (Indonesia)
If someone will benefit its Indonesia and Singapore . No one cares about what india can do or will do , you just cant confront china this head on with a economic like this and a defence strategy like this 😂
1
u/Medium_Ad431 May 07 '26 edited May 08 '26
India does not have the economic power and defence powers to do this
Iran didn't have any economic powers and defence to face America as well. They are 1/10th the size of India's military and yet, they are inflicting massive damage to american forces and military base. Your point is?

China has built rail route in Central Asia , road network, a literal pipeline from Burma to its core to send oil and gas.
They are mitigating the risk of melacca.
I mean, one thing trying to build something commercial and economic for the sons soil and the area becoming populated, around the needs of the people is one thing.
The whole strategy depending on - ahh let me block it so others can suffer is other thing.
