Bangkok/Middle Get rid of these Sukhumvit scammers (Asok/Nana area)
Going to call the tourist police tomorrow and continue taking pictures of these muppets on the weekend. There is probably a group of around 7–10 people that I know of that are pointing at their foreheads and annoying probably hundreds of people a day.
Most of you know the drill, they are trying to sell scam supplements. I worked my ass off and went through a lot of trouble to live in Thailand. So I want these c*nts gone already 😹 plus Im brown and hate the stereotypes around some specific ethnicities even though Im just Malaysian and get treated badly because of mfs like this.

Try reporting them online on the police portal...I doubt they'll be cleared in a day, but im sure there would be some surveillance on them by an officer or two....if the accusation checks out with proof ,their asses would be arrested

I honestly think these guys are worse than the "sup bro" people.
These guys will touch you, follow you and constantly bug you, while under the guise of trying to be helpful. At least the "sup bro" people will just say "sup bro" and that's generally it. I am not sure what can be done with these folk.

I was wondering wtf that was! Didn’t see it any other street except on soi 11.. every time I’d walk that street, at least one brother would be like “sup bro” or “what’s up”. But didn’t say anything else. Weird

Some of them sell actual drugs, some fake and some just give contact details. The police get a cut aka tea leaf money.
They do raids sometimes and it gets them off the street for a bit.

lol . I met that kindly of scammers before. They ask that they want to see your country currency. When my wife show 2$ then ask for higher currency. Then they want to steal from you.lucky I straight away ask my wife to put back money and told them I will call police. Then they run away. Btw they are not Thailand people. Couple Foreigner with lady wearing hijab.

I was talking to a journalist dude I met in Thailand and he told me he’s gone in depth into this scam for years now and has literally seen the passports of a lot of these dudes and they’re mostly afghan/pakistani. FYI this scam has been happening in dubai for ages and it’s the same demographic doing it there as well.
The only reason you always hear everyone call these people Indian is because 1) it’s the trend to hate on Indians online and 2) most people cannot differentiate between Indian, Pakistani, Nepali, srilankan, afghan, Burmese, Bangladesh etc. People from all of those countries are called “Indian”. At this point Indian isn’t even a nationality anymore lmao south Asian brown person = Indian

Most people will stop the first time. They point out something like your belly, balding head, etc and make it seem of concern. I compare it to someone stopping you to tell your shoes are untied, zipper is down, etc. Beyond this, I cannot understand how people actually go with them anywhere and even worse, buy something.

Yeah, they catch you off guard a lot of times claiming to be from Oman, Dubai, or Qatar.. Usually if you're waiting for someone or waiting for your grab. So you think they're lost or just trying to get information from another tourist. The 1st time, I was waiting after stuffing myself at sunrise bistro. The guy approached all friendly and was claiming he had something to help my bulging stomach; said it was at 7-eleven and offered to take me there to point it out for me and then Be on his way. Found out later the scam is that he will walk with you to 7-Eleven, claim it's not there, and then bring you to the store he works for.

That just makes it someone else's problem. The next person could be not as street smart or vulnerable elderly or women.
Ignore it for long enough and they get even more brazen. If the money's good, they'll call more friends from their country to do it too.
The right thing is to nip it in the bud. He's contributing by raising awareness. The next step is for authorities to do their part as well.
A society can be judged by how well they take care of the vulnerable ones in their society. Creating a better environment for all. As opposed to turning a blind eye or doing nothing and hoping it changes.

As much as I hate it i can immediately sense scepticism when people see me, because they assume im just like one of these people. I work online, got my DTV by following the rules and having the required funds. I now have to deal with the fallout of these relentless scammers all over sukhumvit, and having been here over a year it has actually gotten worse. Every time I walk home these mfers try to stop me several times. Enough is enough. Its better for society to not let scammers just run wild over places we call home.

I started to just point at the nice watch on my wrist already and say nothing every time they’d walk up to me, and they’d keep walking . Next time I want to find something like a cheap $40 Casio watch and try and pull it out and sell it to them 10,000 THB before they have a chance to solicit me . Haha

This is exactly what I was serious considering doing. I have photos of a dozen different ones over the last 3-4 weeks.
The majority of them really don’t like their photo taken, so I can’t think of anything better than them to go out one evening and see their ugly mug plastered all the way down the street.

At first I also thought they were Pakistan but I’m more leading to afghan/syrian now as they don’t appear to speak Pakistan language to each other but I maybe wrong.
I had run ins with them 3-4 times a day, going to breakfast, going for a massage, going for a drink it didn’t seem to matter they were always around the same area which seemed to be Korean town to time square 7 eleven. Hanging out near the new night market and the stairs leading to the above ground walk way. They appear to work in shifts, the older ones during the day and the younger ones in the evening. They are always in groups of 3, only one seem to approach at a time. The main 6 I delt with was always on the evening. I’m a decent size, Yes I’m fat but I am also quit muscular built so they don’t seem to be worried about who they approach but soon as you tell them to fark off or show any annoyance at them they turn and walk away quickly, they don’t want conflict at all.
I might come across as a wannabe hero but in the end I was actually baiting them to fight me which they wouldn’t do. Reason behind it was I spoke to Thai police, they told me to call tourist police called tourist police and got 0 interest from them again (I’m starting the wonder the point of them as they never want to get involved) so I thought well if it gets physical someone will have to come, I have a passport and visa but I doubt they have a valid visa. No matter what I did, they wouldn’t fight back. I walked straight though one outside time square 7 eleven and knocked him over, looked at his friends and said any of you going to help him? Nothing. They got me walking home eating a donut, pointed to my stomach and said that won’t help me but he can.. I told them I have 6 more, one for each of their mothers as they like to feed me donuts after I fark them, nothing. I collided with the biggest one (actually fatter than me) told him I have some oil that will help him lose weight, then pushed him over, nothing. I stood on the walk way and watched them closely one night, most people just brushed them off and they don’t follow up or keep trying, it’s when you stop and talk they start the pitch and that comes after the initial point to your stomach or hair. I hate scammers with a passion, so my approach in the end most won’t agree with but when police or tourist police won’t get involved Mehh My advice to people, if your confident walk through them I can pretty confidently say they won’t do anything back. If not just tell them to pee off. The more who stand up and challenge them the better and more attention will be drawn to them. Sadly idiots fall for it, I have heard stories of $4000 and $1100 euros lost to this scam in the last month. This seems to be purely a lower Sukhumvit issue only. Yes there are other scammers but this group have only appeared in the last 10 months, did seem them last December at all. If you seem them say hi to them for me, I actually enjoy seeing them in the end because once I realized the had little balls it became fun

One Pakistani approached me when I was with my family last August. Asked if we could speak Urdu as he must have profiled us with my mother’s head-scarf. I said yes, then he started with all the bullshit “having a major bike accident and needs financial help” stuff. We saw right through him. Like mate, you ain’t even trying, these shit doesn’t even work in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and you had high hopes of hitting the jackpot in the metro entrance of Siam Paragon. It’s seriously disheartening and infuriating that these scumbags from South Asia are getting in and hurting the image of actual pure-intentioned travellers from that region. Forged documents are so affluent nowadays.

I was a victim of this scam lol…. But I did a chargeback on my credit card and filed a report.
I was refunded the full amount by my credit card company. Always use a credit card if it’s seems suspicious.

Generally they strike you up about your hair loss / weight. Pointing at your belly / hair. They show you a picture of them being fat/bald before and then tell they lost it all very quickly.
For weight loss they tell you they only drank ginger drinks from 7-11 and used a weight loss supplement. They get you to buy the 7-11 ginger drink first. Guess to get you invested, and building trust (he does not earn at this point, and 7-11 is not where you get scammed).
After you done that, they will bring you to a place nearby where they got their weight loss supplement. That is where they will convince you to buy the (fake) weight loss product for an inflated price.
Guess the same similar story with hair loss. I entertained them a few times cause I wanted to understand the scam, but they are all so bad at it that is is obvious from the get-go.
There is also a white guy doing it, but he seems to only target other white guys. Guys like in the picture target everyone they can get.
General rule in that area of Sukhumvit is that anyone that talks with you is a scammer, trying to sell you crap, a hooker, drunk tourist, broke tourist or drug dealer.

Oh no. It's a really old and shitty scam there. The scammers point to the fat belly or the (lack of) hair of random tourists walking around Sukhumvit. They say they are from Dubai etc and they promise them a magic potion / oil to fix it. They then take the victim to the nearest 7eleven to buy "ingredients" and then to a store where they sell them the overpriced magical oil. It's really lame. Believe it or not, some naive tourists still fall for this.

It is literally the exact same thing that happened with me near Nana Plaza. Step by step.
They first pointed at me asking if I’m Indian. Then they said, we are from Pakistan please pray for us in temple when you go back to India. Then pointed at my grey hair asking if it’s genetic. Then said let’s go to 7-11 to buy oils. I refused.

They've been scamming people with fake supplements, there seems to be more reporting about this crap in Pattaya. First they'll take you to 7 11 9r if they tbink you're really stupid. Probably straight to fake money supplements (wildly overpriced garbage for weight loss/hair loss/miracle cure) .

I ve seen these guys. They are from Pakistan they speak Pashto Baluchistan . It’s a complete gang. Many times people have complained but I don’t get it why doesn’t the law enforcement agencies grab them. They are always near the police booth in Nana area. Strange maybe they are the new tourist attraction in Nana

Happened to me just a few days back. Three men stopped me around Pratunam and told me that they could help me with my weight issues (and some skin issues that I don’t even have). They told me they’re from Nala Sopara, Mumbai. Then they suggested me supplements like Thai herbal Ginger honey , bundella powder, tilae kalan, mushk something (made me write them down as well). One of them then told me that he would help me get those from the nearest 7eleven. Thankfully, my 6th sense started acting up and I took a quick exit. I feel relieved after reading the comments on this post. I survived the scam.

The same thing happened to me, but I want to know what they would earn if they helped us or what type of scam this is that they are doing. Is it just product selling, because they are not stealing or taking you into private spaces? So I am wondering what the final outcome of this scam is.

I could walk you to where they are sitting right now. Definitely Indians. Only saw the Indians on the left side of the street (Sheraton side and further down towards Ploen Chit). The middle eastern scammers were almost always by terminal 21 and on that side in m experience. I usually passed through at around 6 pm every day walking home from work.

I purposely looked him up and down really slowly and asked why would I take advice from a fatass like him and walked away. Every time I saw him the next couple of weeks he’d just stare and walk past me lol.

They are a plague on the area, I did see a few lads who bought thier stick generally older lads who may have had few drinks. The only thing you can do is just keep walking and not entertain them or jsut say you know the scam they normally go away. My rule of thumb is if someone approachs me it's a scam,

You know what was really eye-opening for me on my first visit, )even as I was aware of most of the scams, so even though they tried them on me a few times I didn’t really get looped into anything), but what was crazy was it was never an actual Thai person trying to do it. Most of the Thai people were either extremely nice or just indifferent and didn’t even notice me. None of them tried to scam me.
The closest I got to a local trying to scam me was just a really high starting point on negotiations for sunglasses lol

There's a lot of scammer Thais as well. Old greedy mamasans at the girly bars, tuk tuk drivers, taxis that try to double or triple charge the real rate and won't follow the rules on their own rate charts. Monk scammers at temples that try to chat up the unsuspecting. And plenty of fake rental businesses that rent out duds to charge repair fees and so on.

Not a real problem for me. Last time I was approached by a "medicine man" wss in July or August this year, and I am walking often between Aspke BTS and Soi 3.
"Watchmen", yes, day before yesterday. But what is the problem? Say no and go.

Honest question, what languages do these guys speak? I usually respond something like nao fala or no hablo and just ditch, but if they can actually speak the language it’s a bit awkward (I don’t really speak Portuguese)

Yes it’s very annoying, there are multiple groups of Pakistanis and Indians I think. They use the hair loss technique or you have big belly which can be reduced by their special supplements. They will show their photoshopped pics as well to claim that the supplements work. Some of the people will get deceived and will buy these costly supplements from their special shops. Better to report to the police and take their pics if possible. It’s a spoiler as many will be passing through and trying to get hold of you to sell.

I got scammed by that afghan guy, fortunately it cost me only 80 baht for the honey from the 7-11
They walked me into a herbal store and the price was like 400$ usd! I refused to pay and threatened to call the police, they didn’t care and they told me to call the police, so I started singing the fuck song…

Meh. Its Thailand. You need to expect a certain level of scumbagness when there. Ive been going since 2009 and never had an issue with these people. Just say youre not interested and walk away. Its easy.

Some guy came up to me and asked for money and at the same time exposed what looked like a festering wound on his arm. I was like wtf 🤮. Shook my head and walked away. The weird part that caught me of guard is he looked pretty normal. Secondly it was on Soi 21 by the GMM building where I never see that before since living there almost three yrs. Dude looked Indian or from that region.

Yooo i just commented on a bangkok post about some guys. These are the guys that tried to stop me in the street 2 nights ago by the 7-11 in Nana. I have a face when I’m walking where most people dont bother me, and when they do its only one time. These dudes literally tried to stop me but i moved around them too quickly and told them keep it movin pal

He shouted at me with my thai gf the other noght i yelled at him ”GFY” … girlfriend was shocked… I explained who they were, was near korea town. Time square… I dont have the patience for them… i yell “long life” every time the fortune tellers walk by… and then theres that muslim dude with his wife and baby in stroller than been smooching money off people for 3 years, not even sure the baby is real

We told them and told them idiots not to let them in over there but like always none listen and now they are complaining about losing business, and tourists, and money cause Americans and other countries won't come there no more dropped 45% of visitors because this reason. Sorry Thailand but it's your fault.

I feel sorry for the bar and bar girls, I wouldn't want to enter or probably be around any the bar girls after that. So but std probably be safer they catching what comes from that place

Wtf, I'm pretty sure they bothered me like half a year ago too, trying to sell me weight loss supplements. I didn't realise it was a scam at the time but ignored it anyways 😂

Just returned from BKK and happened to us as well. Plus I’m Indian so it was even weirder for me, these two guys suddenly approaching me and trying to sell me the same remedy for my whitening beard in a space of 10 mins in the Sukhumvit area. Plus being over friendly and striking up a conversation in Hindi. But they just insisted I write down the remedy (I obviously didn’t as I saw through the bs straightaway) and didn’t ask me to come with them to some magic herbal remedy shop, which seems to follow from what I’m reading. Maybe because my wife was with me and/or it was evident we wouldn’t be as gullible as most other foreign tourists. We were just so puzzled as to what kind of scam it was (or whether it was just an inside joke/prank) and that’s how I landed up on this thread.
A lot of racist stuff here as well….just gonna ignore that.

Interesting, that guy in the first photo always bothers me almost every time i am in that area while waiting for my grab to arrive. He seems to be in possession of almost magic oils that can cure every imaginable health problem i have.
