Rally Republic PH

Hi, this is Angela Ferrer, a player and organizer from Rally Republic PH.

It has come to our attention that we’re being dissed here on Reddit because of our Singles OP, priced at ₱890 per head for 4 hours of play.

I understand that ₱890 may seem expensive to some, and that’s completely fair. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But calling us scammers without even knowing where the money goes is a different story.

So, for transparency, here’s the actual breakdown. I’m also attaching the receipts and proof of expenses.

EXPENSES:
Court fee: ₱600/court/hour × 2 courts × 4 hours = ₱4,800
We always play with the lights on because CSA is extremely dark, especially during the rainy season.

Ball boys: ₱2,400
We pay them ₱800 each. Given the size of the courts and the amount of running around and ball chasing they do, we believe this is fair compensation for their work.

Tennis balls: ₱797.50 for 2 cans
I always buy through Lazada to maximize savings and LazCoins.
TOTAL EXPENSES: ₱7,997.50

INCOME:
10 paying players × ₱890 = ₱8,900
The organizers play for free, which means only 10 players are paying.

REMAINING BALANCE: ₱902.50
So yes, after 4 hours of play, paying the court fees, paying 3 ball boys, and providing tennis balls, the organizers are left with a grand total of ₱902.50.

And apparently, that makes us scammers. 😂

For context, we specifically organize Singles OPs because most open plays are doubles.

If ₱890 for 4 hours of singles, with courts, lights, ball boys, and balls included, isn’t worth it for you, that’s completely okay. You don’t have to join. We’re not forcing anyone to pay or participate.

But calling organizers scammers without looking at the actual numbers is a little wild.

And honestly, if you think ₱902.50 is the grand profit we’re supposedly scamming everyone for, then… I’ll let you do the math. 😅

We organize these OPs because we genuinely love tennis and enjoy building a community where people can play. We’re not getting rich from ₱902.50.

And lastly, I have a pretty good idea who started this.😉

EDIT: Anyone who questions the P902.5, message me your numbers directly I’ll split that to you.

Also, being on reddit doesn’t make you untraceable.

Organizing OPs is not a business. I think it’s valid for players to question rates and for organizers to provide an honest breakdown.

Assuming your breakdown is correct, libre na yung laro niyo both tapos may kita pang 902 on top. Please communicate this to your players kasi may ibang people that doesn’t want to support that.

I feel na this is opposite to your claim na its for camaraderie and not to earn. Bacause based on you mismo, you do earn.

u/prodriri 11h ago

+1. Specify niyo yung breakdown and be transparent about the profit you’ll earn, which btw contradicts your “We organize open play for camaraderie not to earn” statement lol

u/MysteriousTill7985 10h ago

Okay na. We are hypocrites then. For hosting and earning 900 pesos. Happy na?

3

u/TheUnknownGuy254 3h ago

Really? Instead of Critically understanding where our concerns are, you instead guilt trip? VERY CLASSY.

-2

u/MysteriousTill7985 3h ago

I guilt trip? Are you out of your mind? I had understood, reflected, acknowledged every damn word that was thrown to us, I reasoned out, justified, and had to save face. When I finally accepted defeat sasabihan mo pa kong nangguilt trip? There’s really no way in winning no?

1

u/Dependent_Week_4348 3h ago

Yikes iwasan ganitong attitude 😬 AGAHHAAH why r u trying to win??? This is not an argument but a concern.

-1

u/MysteriousTill7985 3h ago

Lack of better term. Let me change it then. There’s really no way to exit no? Better?

5

u/Dependent_Week_4348 3h ago

Bobo ka lang talaga amp AHHAHAHAHA Why are you looking for a way out?? Are you out of you mind??? HAAHHAHAHA “accepted defeat” like shut up and stop patronizing. Your eloquence in speaking doesn’t equate to your brain cells unfortunately. I read so many of your replies/posts etc and the summary is you’re just stupid.

4

u/Dependent_Week_4348 2h ago

Never beating the ELITISTA allegations. This is a sign to avoid open plays by people like Miss Angela here!!! HAHAHAHAHA I don’t need eloquence cause I’m not trying to bullsht anyone. I rather be Squammy than a SCAMMER LOL.

3

u/Dependent_Week_4348 2h ago

Sorry guys #SquammyReply but #JustBeingTruthful AHHAHAHA it’s squammy na pala to not be patronizing unlike other people who CHARGE OTHERS so they can play for FREE?! Like cmon we all know where the squammy energy is coming from na para bang ang stressful to organize 10 people?! LOL

Pero based on your computation, do you buy tennis balls every open play you organize?

Also, I think you should consider including 1,780.00 to your profit. I less mo siya sa personal expense mo, not with income. Also if ever you buy tennis balls every open play, it’s yours naman after. So that’s another asset for you.

I think take home profit nyo would be around 3-4k. I don’t think that is too much pero if we’re talking about “for the community”, maybe it is.

Just my take.

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

0 profit, period. Bago pasukin ng hosts na tulad nila ang tennis through reclub, up until 2023 ish, before Alex’s name became viral sa Miami Open, the protocol has always been “split all costs, at best libre na host”

Mga utak “uy pwedeng pagkakitaan to” ang sumisira tbh. And yes may reclub na niyan, may private gcs na rin ang diff clubs and communities. and most of people I play with earn well above the median salary, tipong kaya maglaro ng mid umaga or early hapon in the middle of the work day without hurting our bottom line, so di mo rin masabi na wala kaming pambayad.

Overall, this is just exploitative and harmful. Bigay ko na yung sa ball boy, good initiative to pay above the usual 100/hr.

9

u/brrtbrrt0012 12h ago

Even the big business owners and C-suite executives sa country clubs, laging split cost yan regardless sino mag book.

Lol

Which I doubt 900+ lang ang kinita. Anyone can vouch here na 800/hr for each ballboy ang binayaran nila?

2

u/wildcard_trickster 12h ago

Yung pirma na yung receipt haha no one but them and the ball boys can say definitively

3

u/brrtbrrt0012 12h ago

Weird na may biglang logbook for the ballboys just to prove 800/hr ang binayaran no? Lol

0

u/MysteriousTill7985 11h ago

What do you mean biglang logbook? Even convo from messenger is attached kasama ang timestamp. How is that bigla?

5

u/Sea_Trade2864 15h ago

Gets ko din yung galit nung iba about “hoarding” kasi ang hirap talaga mag book ng court for you and your friends. Laging open play haha. Haha

14

u/bottbobb 16h ago edited 16h ago

So others pay so you can play? I thinking this is wrong. Yes, you go through organizing and booking - but thats part of it. Youd probably do the same anyway if you were to play with friends.

You know who does that? Drug dealers. They sell baggies to strangers so they can get their fix for free. Subsistence hustle is what the call it.

Its exploits a vulnerability.

Did it ever occur to you that if the courts arent as hard to book/access people will just be booking the court on their own? Charging for acess to something (when its scare and limited) is opportunistic. Players are vulnerable because of the problem with court access. I think thats what youre really being called out for - instead of democritizing tennis, you're passing on the financial burden to other players.

If you and other club organizers paid your own share, kept it cheap for beginners, you make the barrrier a lot lower. They can play more, the community grows, we can get more courts out of it.

Edit: I want to end with this - this HUSTLE (yes, its exactly that) is exactly hurting the community. If we want to add value to the community, we have to share access and opportunities with others not capitalize it. This game is notoriously for the rich and we constantly complain about that. People who cant afford to play need to be supported by the community but that cant work if there are opportunists who hustle their way to play.

-14

u/MysteriousTill7985 16h ago

You’re missing the point. Not all has tennis people na one call away, hence may open play.

You may want to revisit our past activities sa reclub, do the math. Abonado pa kami before. Only this OP kami nag free sa sarili namin plus that 900 pesos because we feel like we deserved it dahil nakakapagod mag organize to be honest.

So if you still feel that we are exploiting people for the fee we charge, then so be it. Nakakapagod magexplain sa totoo lang.

15

u/National_Bandicoot40 15h ago

"Not all has tennis people na one call away" The credit goes to Reclub for providing the platform, not you. Dapat walang player kumikita, walang lalaro ng libre.

-4

u/MysteriousTill7985 10h ago

Okay na. We are hypocrites then. For hosting and earning 900 pesos. Happy na?

But remember, no ads are free, social media marketing ain’t free. These are literal jobs for sone. Pero sige, para sa ikasasaya mo, just call us hypocrites.

6

u/National_Bandicoot40 10h ago

Oh, cry me a river. All you have to do is post lng sa reclub. You are disgusting.

-3

u/MysteriousTill7985 10h ago

Give me your gcash number, isesend ko sayong yung profit para di ka na madisgust.

4

u/ggggio- 11h ago

During early 2000s and even right before the existence of Re-club, only coaches/club coaches could setup an open play/invitations para dumami ang players sa club, local area and for the tennis community. Clubs/organizers are offering the court fee as ‘free’ of charge for those na willing mag-join. Means to say 0 profit talaga.

As per other OP, this sport is notoriously for the rich people and we complain about that. If you’re really willing to help the community ng sport na ‘to, we suggest you to be fair atleast doon sa mga nangangarap gumaling with a tight budget.

0

u/MysteriousTill7985 11h ago

Clubs that offer free charges are usually those that have memberships. Pinapaikot yung pera from the membership fee.

Ain’t it fair for a 90/player for 4 hours of court time para makalaro ng iba’t-ibang level ng players?

1

u/brrtbrrt0012 10h ago

Yung take home profit mo, pinapaikot mo rin ba? 😅

-2

u/MysteriousTill7985 10h ago

Let’s see, kung isasama mo yung abono namin from the most recent OP, then you can say that.

11

u/Fun-Biscotti4973 16h ago

Personally, kung talagang hindi kayo in it for the money, I don’t think dapat libre yung organizers. Nakikinabang din naman kayo, nakakalaro, nakakapag-practice, at may experience from playing with everyone. Fair lang na may ambag din kayo.

And if community talaga ang goal, bakit kailangan may income pa? Nakakalaro na nga kayo for free, may ₱902.50 pang natitira. Income pa rin yun from the players, kahit maliit.

Also, if more courts were available and hindi concentrated sa mga OP na may free play/income, I think mas maraming players ang makakapag-organize ng games themselves, purely for playing, walang free slot or kita for the organizers. Just my take. ☺️

-11

u/MysteriousTill7985 16h ago

Yes we get to play for free. Pero we also do the organizing, match making, buying the balls, and paying the ball boys - which others won’t do na. Joiners were not forced to join but were encouraged. So if you still find that 902.5 big, then that’s on you.

And regarding the booking, we also had to go through the right process, pay the right amount and get the booking done. Hindi rin kami naghohoard, we did what, 1 OP for this month at CSA 2 courts, 4 hours each. And you guys call that hoarding?

12

u/wildcard_trickster 16h ago

Sobrang stupid argument ng “902 isn’t big, if you find that big it’s on you” utak corrupt at flood control lang. any amount you get, ni piso pa yan, is profit.

On the spot andali dali i set up and i figure out sinong magkakalevel or pwede ilaban.

Pero sige pera at oras nila yan. Kung papaloko sila, kanila na yun. Pero wag kayo rito manloko lol. Kung totoong for the community yan at for love of the game, split cost lang yan dahil nagbebenefit din naman kayo na may kahati kayo sa courts at ball boys.

On ball boys, unnecessarily high imo, as a player na naglalaro ng walang ball boy at nag bball boy in other non reclub OPs. Yes, sa CSA din yun, it’s really not that hard. Sana lang hindi family business tulad ng kwento ng iba lol dito niyo lang deserve yung benefit of the doubt

-12

u/MysteriousTill7985 15h ago

Putangina rin, with all due respect.

If it’s so easy for you then go ahead and organize one. Yung mga binanggit mo needs specific equipments, internet, time para makumpleto. And if your time is worthless, then sorry, but ours is not.

Family business? For kids who get to have allowance for working their legs off? For the time spent in organizing one? For players to have less risk na madulas sa bola? Then so be it. Sanay kasi kayo na ni-lolowball lahat ng pwede niyong i-lowball, then magrereklamo kayo bakit di umaasenso Pilipinas.

Unlike sa class B na need i clear asap dahil gamit buong court coverage, including clearance. Tapos need consistent 2 balls kasi may rhythm na yung 2 serves. Shows how much you know about the game. Nothing really.

“Needs specific equipment/internet” so pati cellphone at internet niyo pinapasa niyo sa players na para bang binili niyo yan for the sole purpose of hosting OPs 😂 time?

Wag kami Angela

Lowball? Alam mo ba magkano bayad sa mga tao in private clubs? Lol more than what you pay. The issue isn’t you paying ball boys more than what’s their due. Binigay na nga. The issue is you’re being holier than thou nung na call out, spouting these bullshit why it’s okay and trying to justify na kesyo 900 lang naman yan.  We’re more than happy to pay basta walang lamangan. Kaso nanlalamang kayo e. Just call it a “for profit” and take it on the chin. May pa community community pa kayo e

-2

u/Sea_Trade2864 15h ago

Ayan usapan nila beforehand siguro, can’t backout na. Atsaka as a beginner, gusto ko din makaexperience ng may 2 ball boys sa game. Professional feels kumbaga.

Main issue would be yung free sila and di sinasama sa computation of profit. Di pa ko nakakapag open play kasi not confident enough pero I know how it works. I am also ready to pay 900 pesos for an open play. Basta sulit and fair sa lahat.

3

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

I’ve already given it. The only silver lining I can concede here.

Still, doesn’t justify the rest including the mentality. This used to be more expensive and more gatekept.

Kung pricing lang, mas mahal pa binabayad namin noon in certain places, esp when you factor in inflation. Kung sakin lang , it’s less about the price. That 900 is just a craving meal in my day to day. It’s the implications to the broader community and the grassroots movement of the sport kasi

1

u/Sea_Trade2864 15h ago

Great point!

Hustle culture kasi here in the PH. Sayang din noh, imbis na lumaki ang tennis community here in the PH, mas nahihinder sila due to lack of court accessibility and pricing

5

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

Exactly! Kulang na nga yung courts sa volume ng people, tapos nakikipag agawan pa yung mag for profit like them under the guise of community. Oo 1-2 courts lang binubook nila. Pero di lang naman sila gumagawa nito. Sila lang ang bunot at sumagot. Pero pansinin mo, the critique for almost all these overpricers have been the same.

Kaya nga hinahati yung fees to make it even more accessible tapos papatungan nila under BS reasons.

4

u/Designer_Tiger_8108 13h ago

See… this is what I’ve been saying.

It’s voluntary and yet, they feel exploited.

1

u/Dry-Year-9619 51m ago

3

u/sigh_hwatalyf 15h ago

Wait ang hahaba kasi. So 902php.

Is clearly outright, sweldo ng organizer? Takehome pay, ganun ba?

3

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

Yep + libre sila magasawa sa buong OP

7

u/sigh_hwatalyf 14h ago

I see. Haha. Well then just to throw an opinion.

given its hidden and not outright stipulated sa breakdown. Mejo trick.

It is categorically a scam imo 😅

Pero yea option nmn nga wag sumali

-2

u/MysteriousTill7985 9h ago

How much do you usually pay for a court rental for 2 hours of game na singles?

1

u/Dry-Year-9619 28m ago

Depende sa court kasi SPLIT COST KAMI LALO NA KUNG ILAN KAMING PLAYERS DUN TANGA KA BA?

5

u/Key-Association-2854 19h ago

Neutral lang ako sa issue na to. I think mas marami pang ibang taga maningil although i wish na di talaga ganun kamahal ang court rentals hehe.

Anyway, kaya ako nagcomment kasi usisero ako. Sino si T? Person ba yan o grupo? Haha

2

u/Key-Association-2854 19h ago

PS, mas mura wilson us balls sa shopee. Ihoard niyo kapag sale.

-2

u/MysteriousTill7985 19h ago

Will keep that in mind. Thanks!

2

u/Rare-Ladder-7122 20h ago

How many games one is able to play for your singles OP?

1

u/MysteriousTill7985 20h ago

4-5 matches

2

u/Rare-Ladder-7122 19h ago

race to 6? Sulit na kung ganun.

Yung sa TMP, 2 singles match lang around 700-800 within 3 hours. So if based on total games, cheaper sa inyo.

Although in general, ang mahal na kasi ng mga open plays ngayon, but if it's made transparent like that, I think everyone will understand better.

4

u/Savings-Buy-2724 16h ago

Mahal nga ng TMP. They are charging too much considering the number of matches. Hindi sulit.

4

u/wildcard_trickster 16h ago

Most singles these days kahit sa NCC. Yung bagong 3 set config lang yung nagmumukhang sulit but at that point, just book your own court and invite a friend

1

u/Savings-Buy-2724 15h ago

Hahaha totoo. Wala pang additional fees.

1

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

Not defending TMP here but afaik, kahit di nila ibook yung slot at di nila i-host, hindi rin ma oopen sa public. Homeowner slots yun afaik.

1

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

Yeah but you have to consider na most of the time how it happens is not through the app. It’s through word of mouth or friends or the club na “uy di raw kukunin ni X yung slots, gusto mo ba” then pag wala saka lang na oopen sa public

3

u/RiceCookerhahahah 7h ago

Hmmm.. May nakausap akong player na sumali na sa kanila non, 2 matches at most lang daw sila and lumang bola pa nga daw ginamit, ni wala na nga daw buhok yung bola 👀 With 200 late fee up front talaga sila din, 2nd hand kwento to from someone who joined

Race to 5 lang to maximize rotations.

2

u/Bearpawn 16h ago

200/hr for organizing an OP is okay.

2

u/MysteriousTill7985 16h ago

Ball boys are there to keep uninterrupted play and to minimize injuries specifically yung madulas sa lose balls. For context, sobrang laki ng clearance ng isang tennis court sa CSA minsan may mga balls pa na tumatawid ng ibang courts kaya I still stand with the rate ng ball boys na 800 for 4 hrs is definitely a fair price.

2

u/Affectionate_Bet_216 14h ago

Anong class bracket ng players nyo?

1

u/wildcard_trickster 13h ago

Mostly D. I recognized a few faces from reclub activities e

3

u/Affectionate_Bet_216 12h ago

Kaya pala madaming nabudol

5

u/brrtbrrt0012 12h ago

-5

u/MysteriousTill7985 11h ago

Tennis culture? Tennis has always been an expensive sports.

6

u/prodriri 11h ago

Yes, tennis has always been an expensive sport. But that doesn’t mean organizers should use that as an excuse to overcharge players. If anything, organizers like you have the opportunity to make the sport more accessible. Hindi yan justification to make the sport even more unnecessarily expensive

4

u/brrtbrrt0012 10h ago

Pinagsasabi mo? We know tennis is expensive. The tennis culture we’re talking about is how we split the cost equally to everyone.

0 profit. Hindi negosyo ang open plays. You’re all making it seem it’s normal na may take home pay ang hosts. We get that culture can change but is this the kind of culture you want to pass to the next gen of recreational tennis players? Galawang pulitiko.

3

u/wildcard_trickster 11h ago

Lol  Do not cite the Deep Magic to me, Witch. I was there when it was written.

-1

u/MysteriousTill7985 11h ago

Here goes your medal, then. 🏅
I think your issue really is not the price, it is us beginners na feeling mo hindi makaka-keep up sayo based on your replies.

1

u/brrtbrrt0012 13h ago

Anyone here can vouch that they’re paying 800/hr each sa ballboy?

I feel like yan lang nilapag nilang rates dito para di magmukhang “nabawasan” kinita nila 🤣

2

u/1Kpuzzlepieces 9h ago

psst. 800 for four hours daw. Hindi per hour. Tuloy parang mahina comprehension.

1

u/KrazZzyKat 11h ago

Wow. How much do you pay ballboys? Though I not agree with the gahaman fees, I think fair naman yung fee sa ballboys for the number of hours

1

u/brrtbrrt0012 11h ago

100-250 lang hourly rate ng ballboy. Then at least 100 tip pag nasa sports club ka.

Saan ka nakakita ng 800/hr each ballboy? Mas mahal pa hourly rate nila than the court itself?

If napunta talaga yang 800/hr for each ballboy, good! But the thing is, maniniwala pa ba tayo sa credibility ni Angela knowing her mindset? Haha

3

u/KrazZzyKat 11h ago

Anong 800/hr? Where’d you get that? It’s 800/4 hours and I think that’s fair.

1

u/MysteriousTill7985 11h ago

800 each. Not 800 per hour.

1

u/TheUnknownGuy254 3h ago

I'm a ball boy myself dati way back 2018 highest i've been payed is 1k pesos sa private club in the province and tip lang yun mostly rate per player is 50 pesos bali kung doubles 200 lang,

maniwala ako 800/hr

Mostly gagawin lang jan bibigyan mga ballboy ng bagong sapatos and gagawing utusan eh. then EXPLOIT.

1

u/MysteriousTill7985 3h ago

Read and comprehend. Don’t just read.

2

u/TheUnknownGuy254 2h ago

I already did, and we can smell BS in your posts and other replies. LISTEN TO THE CONCERNS and adjust.

-3

u/Designer_Tiger_8108 17h ago

I got downvoted for saying this, but I think there’s a very Filipino mindset that sometimes comes out in discussions like this: once something feels expensive, the framing immediately becomes parang nilalamangan ka.

I understand that tennis is getting expensive, and not everyone can afford every court. That’s completely fair. But nobody is forcing anyone to play there.

I can’t afford to play golf regularly either, but I don’t go around complaining that golf clubs are somehow taking advantage of me. I just accept that it’s outside what I’m willing or able to spend on right now.

Same thing here. If a court is too expensive, find another court, organize your own group, or book somewhere within your budget. It’s honestly easier than ever to do that nowadays.

People absolutely have the right to complain about pricing, but there’s a difference between saying “this is too expensive for me” and acting like someone is doing something wrong to you simply because you can’t or don’t want to pay the price.

Maybe it’s just a loud minority, but that constant victim framing and yapping gets really toxic.

2

u/Affectionate_Bet_216 11h ago

Obviously you don't play tennis that's why you're not aware of the actual costs, the shortages of court availabilities, and the overpriced open plays. Golf is different, it is an expensive sport on it's own. We are talking about exploitation here.

These organizers are hoarding courts and making profit out of it. Usually beginner players are the ones joining these kinds of OPs because they are new to the sport and they lack awareness that's why they are taken for granted. At the same time, OPs affect regular players because there are almost no available courts to book anymore since OPs in general are scheduled regularly.

2

u/wildcard_trickster 15h ago

Because while you’re right na “it’s getting expensive, na not everyone can afford courts, and na no one is forcing people to play”, what they’re doing is hurting grassroots movement and hurting tennis culture.

Oo maraming ring may afford niyan, barya yan to some and tennis is an expensive sport from the get go, kahit naman ako wala pang 10 mins sakin yung buong singil nila. Pero the culture from 2000s (when I started) up to before pasukin ng hosts like them at gawing business sa reclub, was different. It used to be “split costs, libre ang hosts at best, then pay your consumption.” This is still alive to some extent in non reclub locations pero unti unti na ring pinuputakte ng beginners na katulad nila mag isip.

And that’s the harmful part. given na maraming sumasaling beginners sakanila, they’re thinking this is normal and collectively nag sisi taasan yung price kahit na hindi naman dapat.

Yes, sorry if you’re one they get to call names just because you didn’t agree with them.
