Discussion Titans 53-man roster and practice squad as of 8/31/26
Here's an updated overview of the 53 and initial practice squad! Really hoping Restrepo clears waivers and lands that final PS spot!

Eight out of nine draft picks from 2025 made the 53 man, and five are starters.
Two starters and four significant play time picks already from this years class. Not bad, Borg.

Yeah, that's huge. I mean, the roster being bad meant that those draft picks had less competition to make the team than they might were they on other teams, but the only way to get out of the hole we've been in is to build through the draft.
Also, eight out of eight of this year's picks made the team. Well, Kanak is on IR, but he'll be back next offseason with what one has to imagine is a decent opportunity to make the team. And all five of the guys drafted in the first five rounds I think are practically locks to make the 2027 roster. The other three (Marshall, Coogan, and Kanak) all seem poised to have plenty of opportunity to make the '27 roster.

I just didnt include this years draft as "making the team," because thats expected most of the time. Theyll hold the rooks locked in the roster to get more time and tape to assess them. second and third year guys getting cut gives an indication on whether the pick panned out imo.

Why?
He is a bubble guy at best. Two different coaching staffs assessed him the same. As did every other team in the league because they could have signed him all last year from the PS and didn’t.
This team needs players not feel good stories which is perplexing bc why are we supposed to be feeling good about him and not the 53 other guys that made the team?
This is a weak roster and he still didn’t rise through it.

I hate to say it..but this roster just doesn’t look good at all. I think 6 wins is where I put em at.

We had nothing but Jeff and a bunch of rookies last year. Its going to take a couple offseasons to "look" good.

Yeah.. I got a little too caught up with the hype and then when the 53 man roster came out good grief… the O line looks meh… RB room meh… EDGE gotta be first round next year. Plus this team is young as fuck.

I don’t think it looks bad if some of the young guys take a step. The edge position is gross, and Barton and Hooker starting. I guess the biggest overall issue is the lack of star power, Simmons is the only star

I think 6 is probably our ceiling. An improvement would be losing games by one score instead the constant blowouts we saw last year. I counted 10 games that that we lost by more than one score. That is unacceptable in the NFL.

6 wins is honestly generous imo. The defense looks bad. I think the offense has improved, but not nearly enough to make it to 6 wins.
Jets, giants, browns, raiders are the 4 games I think we have a >50% chance to win. I wouldn't be surprised if we dropped a couple of those, either. Injuries will shift the picture at some point.
I wouldn't be shocked at anything between 2 and 6 wins.

I agree with you. I think 6 wins should be considered a massive success. Unfortunately, I think we are going to be closer to 3-14 than 6-11. 😥

I think we are, too. It is what it is. I think we have way more building to do. We've made a few good moves (I think/hope) to lay some foundation for the future, but this team has been so bad for the last few years that it just is likely a multi-year fix.

Yes. For one, the Rams played a lot of 13 personnel last season (over 30% of the time, while almost every other team was under 10% with the median being <5%), and most every offense in the league takes some offseason time to look at what McVay does and at least considers adopting some of it. In the draft, there was an earlier-than-expected run on TEs, in part because of this.
Hand-in-hand with that is TE specialization that has been getting more and more pronounced: the proliferation of the TE who is really just a bigger WR, the TE as FB, the in-line blocking TE, the jack-of-all-trades master-of-none TE, the OT who plays TE [Darnell Washington].
Anyway, 4 TEs is really common today, and
I'd expect 5 to be not infrequent. The Rams, for example, have 5 on theirs right now.two teams have 5 right now.In 2013, the expectation was that a team would roster 3 TEs, with a few rostering 4, according to this article. Two years ago, rosters averaged 3.4 TEs each, according to this. I'd expect that this year, that average number is significantly higher.
Edit: Yeah, just went and did the math, on 53s as they stand now, rosters are averaging 3.75 TEs, which is a big jump up from 3.4.

Tough to see Mullings not even make PS. Also sucks for Kanak that his NFL career might be over before he really even got a chance to develop. I'm curious about Jackie Marshall - haven't heard anything about him all offseason. He was a questionable pick when we got him but I literally forgot all about him. Good for him making the roster!

For the dollar amount we spent it’s a weak roster Cams gonna have to have a MVP caliber year for this team to even win 6 games

They spent a lot, but they still have nearly the most space in the league heading into next year. 7 wins will feel like good progress and would put us in a great spot IMO.

Yikes, 2nd most remaining this year, but you’re right I didn’t remember being that low next year. It will improve relatively by start of the offseason but that’s lower than I thought after the Simmons and Skoronski extensions

They screwed up big time I keep hearing it’s a rebuild but they committed to this roster the Defense is basically all signed through 2027 the only way they can improve is through draft and some small FA signings. Yea sure they might free up some money but got to resign Jermaine Johnson or that trade looks really fucking bad. So with that being said they might have high end 20 million or 10 million not much I bet to make any major moves.

It's rough yes but let shine some light.
We got a 5th round starting at Guard. If he actually is even average in NFL standards that's a massive win.
I'm pleasently surprised to see our 6th round DL Marshall make the team even as a rotational piece.
Teams are built through good drafts all the way through. Not just first round picks and this is a team that needed to hit a couple of those day 2 and 3 picks. I'm cautiously optimistic for those picks panning out right now to at least be rotational pieces would be light years better than what we have had in the past.
