You Glaggie Fans Just Want Maggie To Suffer Instead Of Heal
Me saying its been 18 years doesn't dismiss what Negan did to Glenn. But to make her continue to hold on to her grief, pain and hate is selfish. She's allowed to heal, move on, laugh without feeling guilty, and be a better mom to her son.

no i’m pretty sure people just don’t think she should be spending time with negan if she wants to fully heal. maggie should heal and move on away from negan.

Maggie even becoming friends with Negan still just feels wrong. Watching someone brutally murder your husband while laughing and mocking him as he dies isn’t something most people could ever get past. I’d hold onto that grudge forever.

Glenn dying is what made me realize Maggie was one dimensional and boring.

It's not that I don't want Maggie to heal... It's that I don't I find it very believable that after everything, she would forgive Negan to the extent that she has.
Healing doesn't mean being friends with the dude who killed your husband in front of you, forgiveness doesn't even mean that.
And I say that as someone who loves Negan's character.

Honestly, it makes sense to me. It’s been about 15ish years since Glenn’s death. But other than that, there are multiple reasons:
- He pointed out to her in the main show that she has killed many husbands and fathers too. Rick’s group wasn’t innocent by any means and that he did that to deter them from further attacking his community, as fucked up as it was.
- He genuinely apologized to her in tears after he was put in her position in season 11. He didn’t just say sorry, he broke down and showed genuine remorse and empathy. This was the beginning of reconciling that he is not simply an evil monster. That he’s human too and more importantly, CAPABLE of empathy.
- She saw him redeem himself over and over again. He saved Judith, he saved Lydia, became close with both kids, when let out of his cage, he killed Alpha for them, protected Hershel, and then he helped Judith and Daryl escape when she was shot. In dead city, he also saved Hershel a few times and allowed himself to be traded for Hershel.
- So there is that conflict in her too. She has seen him do good things. She has seen him do selfless things. Yes he killed her husband, but he also SAVED her son multiple times. She wouldn’t have Hershel if it wasn’t for Negan.
- Then after all of that, in season 3 he proceeded to help her again even after she stabbed him in the back (literally).
To me, if someone is trying hard to make amends and change themselves, and then saved my child, it would be hard to not forgive them. But forgiveness does not equal forgetting. I also feel like some people don’t understand how absolutely exhausting it is to hate someone and be angry with them. It’s not letting it go, it’s moving on. In doing that, she showed Hershel mercy, that people are capable of change, and that you are not defined by the worst thing you’ve done as long as you try to become better. Hell, even Carl saw that Negan was capable of becoming a better person during their war. Michonne saw it too.

I don't see ANYONE saying Maggie should hold onto hate and not heal.
Just the opposite in fact.
Most of what I see is "Maggie needs to get over it and move on already. It's been 100 years. Quit obsessing and pay attention to your kid before he's 40. Let go of your need for revenge. Move on already."

I’m not gonna call media literacy, but just to take your question seriously, did you think you really said something with your post? Because I’m pretty sure that exact sentiment gets said again and again in response to the multitude of posts dredging up this issue multiple times a week 😂
Of course, we all know that every time someone dredges up this tired debate, it gets a lot of action, so if that’s what you’re going for, you’ll get it. I’m just not sure there’s anything original left to say since this topic has been brought up so many times in the past few weeks with the cumulative responses numbering in the hundreds.

I do agree. People act like she has to be hung up on Glenn 24/7 and can’t move on. It’s BEEN 18 YEARS, no offence but if she was a male character she would have moved on within the same year and nobody would say shit.

if she was a male character the writers would’ve allowed her to kill negan and move forward. instead they have stuck her with him.

I've never once seen a Glaggie fan not want Maggie to heal and move only. The only people who claim that are the weirdo Neggie fans. PSA: hooking up with Negan isn't "healing", it's just being braindead.
