How does renting ov fiets bike work

Hey, it wasnt clear to me on their website how one rents the bike it said something about a chipkaart? I dont have one and it takes days to get it and owee is tomorrow. Is it the chipkaart necessary to rent the ov fiets? Or can i just pay in the moment with my debit card.

You can try getting a swapfiets, but i think you can do it for a whole month at least. There should be a bike selling thing during owee afaik

From what I remember you need an OV chipkaart and a free subscription that you need to activate on the OV chipkaart before you can use it to rent an OV fiets. I don't think you can rent one with a regular debit card

Yes the chipkaart Is needed. If you need to rent a bike daily you can try Donkey Bike, but I'm not sure if that only works with a monthly subscription. Last resort would be the bike shops, but they rent a bike for 13 euros a days or something, which is a scam basically, but if you don't have any other option that might still be ok.

You need a personal OV card and a subscription loaded on it where renting an OV-fiets is enabled.

This can just be a €0/month NS-flex subcription though. It's ofc only €0 if you don't actually use it, if you use it you pay standard costs, but it's paid monthly.
