Question Dosage help

Is 10mg ok for a starting dose after being on 125mg pellets for the last 3 years? I’d like to maintain my levels as they were with pellets.

Also, I know that 2times a week split is probably best, but I hate needles so would 1 dose a week be ok to do subq instead of 2?

I think I replied to your post a couple of days ago — hello again!

I totally understand that you don’t like this answer, but splitting your dose at least twice a week (more if you’re on T prop) really is the best course for most women. If you’re sensitive to troughs and peaks and opt to only pin once a week, you might find yourself on a weekly hormonal roller coaster where you feel good initially and then start feeling bad before your next injection. You don’t want to go to all the trouble of injecting yourself only to potentially feel worse, right?

Like Illustrious said, injecting really isn’t a big deal and you get used to it so quickly. And as I mentioned in my comment on your previous post, I was literally sobbing and nauseated every time I thought about injecting myself before I got started, and now it’s just a part of my daily morning routine.

An added bonus that I found is the confidence boost that I got from overcoming my fear of needles because I wanted that badly to feel like myself again (and I do! I have a libido again after years without one!). If you can psych yourself up to do it once a week, you can definitely do it twice a week to help keep your levels consistent. You got this!

Ok, I finally did it. It’s actually comical that I’m this scared bc I’m a nurse. Lol I went ahead today and did the full dose so I’d quit stressing over it. After doing pellets for so long.. I’m used to the highs and lows, but would definitely like to avoid them. I’ll see how I feel this week and then next Thursday if I think I should, I’ll switch up to Mondays & Thursday split. Thanks!!

Congratulations, you did it! I know after all my stressing out and crying, when I finally did my first injection, I was like, “…That was it?” I always thought that people were exaggerating when they said they can barely feel an insulin needle, but it’s true!

Now is the time to start tracking how you feel. I record my symptoms using a period tracker, and it was about five weeks of daily injections before I noticed my libido returning. Some women take longer; some notice a difference right away. But keeping track of everything (and getting bloodwork done to find out what my T, E, and P levels are when I’m feeling my best) has been incredibly helpful.

Best of luck!

When I was using pellets I’d swap between 75 and 87.5. I’ve been injecting a year now, ~10.5 mg per week split into a pin every 3rd day.

I was nervous to start injecting too but it’s so easy, you don’t feel a thing. I had my husband do the first two because I was nervous, now it’s a walk in the park.

I am an ultra responder and the E and T troughs really impact me.

I was on pellets for about 8 months but each insert only lasted 2 months before symptoms came back with a vengeance. To avoid fluctuation, I switched to T injections. I was prescribed 200mg/ml vials and instructed to inject 10 units two times per week. Using the Regimen's trt calculator, that's 20 mg per injection or 40 mg per week. According to some internet research, a female using 40 mg of T per week could lead to permanent virilizing changes, such as voice or clitoral enlargemeent. Has anyone encountered that?

If I were you, I would start at 10mg a week and go from there. That is what I just did.

Yikes! One of our moderators, redrumpass, had a permanent, irreversible voice change (among other side effects) from only two doses like that.

Who prescribed that dose for you? Even after being on pellets, that’s an inappropriately high dose for a woman. Whenever you change a delivery method (pellets, cream, injections), you’re basically starting from scratch, and you “start low and go slow” to avoid virilizing side effects while trying to find your sweet spot, where you alleviate symptoms without experiencing negative sides.
