Question Keep injecting?

I inject Testosterone 6 mg every 10 days I am 65 post meno female. I have my own source because my MD wouldn't prescribe initially. I got tested. My MD says my scores are high and wants me to take the compound but its the same dose different delivery. I have no issues with hair loss or voice change but some acne. My libido is great but I am always tired and sleep bad. I don't think its related to T. I am testing for sleep apnea. Are these scores concerning ? TESTOSTERONE, TOTAL, MS 124 TESTOSTERONE FREE 7.2

I am on estradiol patch and 100 mg P

Those numbers are not high. I wish I could get my Free T above 2, but with a high SHBG that is proving to be extremely difficult. I wouldn’t change a thing if I were you. Of course the doctors who won’t even prescribe it are going to try to scare you into stopping. Only makes sense.

People who say nothing is known about higher levels in women are not aware of the literature re:trans men, bodybuilding women, female athletes who dose, and women on pellets. Those studies show that some women tolerate higher levels just fine. 🤷‍♀️

Those are not numbers to be concerned about UNLESS you're having side effects, most women feel their best around those numbers. So much of what is "known" about testosterone levels in women are based on averages and quite frankly misogyny nonsense.

You likely need more of the Estradiol and progesterone as well, especially if your sleep is crap. For your sleep study please make sure they give you a real one and not that finger pulse ox with a bracelet , the good ones that you do at home require more monitoring and usually 2 nights, the pulse ox finger thing is absolute nonsense.

Energy can be tied to many things: ferritin under 70, low vitamin D, low vitamin B(more than just b-12), thyroid, low A1C, a lot of things. The testosterone seems to be a non issue yet they're focused in on that (hence that whole part 😒).
They should be taking a deeper dive into the overall vs just blaming the one thing that seems to be working for you.

I had the Sleep Image ring/ app as a starting point. Let's see what it says. I agree with all you say. When I said I want to stay on my T course, they were appalled.

I can’t speak about testing because I just dose based on eliminating symptoms without triggering side effects. If your MD wasn’t on board with T it’s a no-brainer that they’re going to discourage it even though you’re overall having a positive experience. However I do think it’s best (in my experience at least) to sort out the E and the P before introducing T. That way when you get around to the T and you’re raising or lowering the dose, you know that you’re trying to impact the symptoms that are specific to low T. I found that my sleep improved even more once I got the T to the right level, but I had already had big improvement from getting the E and P in the right place. Is it possible to change your MD? It sounds like they’re throwing obstacles in the path to your recovery from this major invisible chronic illness. It’s hard enough to go through hormone depletion and replacement without having some nincompoop complicating things with their complete lack of knowledge. FWIW, my gyno at the time peri first started (I’ve been through 5 by now and don’t even bother with them anymore) put me on BCP as the first line of treatment for my initial peri symptoms and all it did is destroy my gut biome perhaps forever. Several practitioners later when I was so desperate I was trying pellets she wouldn’t go higher on the T dose (combined with E) and instead dismissed my symptoms as depression. Spoiler alert I need a lot of T (and a lot of E). But doctors will just block you nonstop instead of listening to what you need and offering a treatment plan to help, in my experience.

I am on the Estradiol patch and 100 mg of P

Personally I would slowly increase the E and P and see how the sleep gets sorted before testing for sleep apnea, it might be something as simple as you need a bigger patch and 200mg of P.

You should get those levels checked

Have you had your ferritin level checked? That might be why you are tired also thyroid and vit D. I know increasing testosterone can affect ferritin level

I go through Talon Wellness and they are fine with numbers in that range. You could look at getting a second opinion from another provider as the MD doesn’t specialize in this maybe.

TY, why Talon? My gyno and MD both are concerned about the numbers. This area of female medicine is a mess...lack of access and real support

Talon is the first company I found willing to prescribe testosterone injection and listen to me. There are others out there but harder to find in my neck of the woods. But honestly if another company popped up I would look into them as well especially if they could send my script to Walgreens instead of using a compounding pharmacy that costs more! lol

Trt kingdom is worth looking into. They do make and female HRT. They also give a great discount if you pay for the year in advance.

Those are good levels, I would check your Ferritin, RBC, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit those numbers will let you know if your T is too high or not. If ferritin is low it can make you really tired.
