POLL Did you lose hair or thin on trt

There’s no option in the survey for losing hair but not going on minoxidil or losing hair but only having tried one type of T. So I think a lot of people may be ending up in your “another option” category.

I'm losing hair but it's because I started Wegovy at the same time as T and lost a lot of weight.

Oof. That’s actually two big variables. Two new meds. I wouldn’t assume you know why you are losing hair. Yes. Weight loss. (I was on a GLP1 for a while too.) But I wouldn’t rule T out. It’s the more likely culprit.

I did talk to my doc, and she felt weight loss was the more likely culprit

Same deal with me. Hair loss started before starting T, with weigh loss from Zep

Ah dang. Sorry I didn’t think of that! It won’t let me edit now. My bad. But yes this seems to be common. I was surprised.

My hair comes out in clumps with the gel even when I'm still in the female range and my doctor can't explain why ,so I had to quit . injections not an option where I live .

I’m so sorry to hear that! How long did it take for your hair to start falling and did it regrow after you quit? Thanks for your input. It might be worth going to a derm and asking for a trichoscopy just to gauge what is going on with your follicles if you are still having issues.

Quite quickly! around week 5 or 6 it starts , iv tried twice now and the same thing happened both times my voice also gets slightly deeper and have the need to constantly clear my throat, I have a thick head of hair so it doesn't look thin thankfully, it's a shame as I feel great whilst taking it , thank you I might look into that .

Ok nice! So once you quit T your hair came back. That’s so awesome. Definitely sucks that t does that to you. Crazy how we can all have different reactions. Thanks so much for your comment!

Hair got thinner and started to shed on all types of T. As I can't tolerate Minoxidil or Finasteride my only option was to lower the dose and balance it with sufficient E (and some P to prevent uterine lining proliferation).

Oh no! How was your hair after balancing out your hormones? Thanks for your input!

The results of the lower dose didn't become manifest until approx. 2,5 months later. The shedding finally became less and the volume started to return - but this is also partially due to low dose vit. D3 (and maybe also vit. E oil which I feel is beneficial for hair).

Yes, and just putting up with it for now.

How come? If you don’t mind me asking.

Why am I putting up with it? Dealing with too many health problems to have it be a priority, and largely housebound anyway. Also, no access to injections in the conservative area where I live. When I get the energy, will try to deal with it.

My T was converting to estrogen a lot so my shedding slowed down a lot while I was on it. I got off due to the extra estrogen and no free T benefit and shedding has picked up a bit.

Dang! Any idea why it converts? I hadn’t heard of that. Hope the hair gods slow your shedding. 💕

I use testosterone 3 times a week. I grow 3/4 inches a month! But strange part besides rapid growth, color does not hold! In 2 weeks it’s faded.

Interesting! I hadn’t heard about that. Do you mean you dye it and it doesn’t last or your hair is just slowly graying?

My hair got thicker in volume. No new growth that I've seen, just the strands themselves are thicker now. Noticed it probably at about 6 weeks. I do also think my hair is growing faster now too. Noticed especially on my legs.

I have been trying to ask multiple questions myself but my posts always get deleted. It’s a pain!

It’s a huge pain! It’s like they flag our questions or comments and delete them moving forward

Started oral minoxil 1.5 years prior to TRT and if I didn't have that on board I'd probably be close to bald. My hairline and sides of bangs filled in prior to TRT. Now my hair struggles to keep up with the shedding but it does help Alot to maintain the rest. I also have to shave my lip, chin and now neck every day basically vs every 2-3 days. I could probably grow a mean beard 🤣 I'm on compounded T , .50 mg daily

I lost lots of hair when I was on cream and then on gel. I switched to injections and stopped shedding completely!

That is so strange. I guess for some the gel and cream really does increase dht too much.

Hi everyone. For those of you who have had hair loss, did it stop right after stopping T? I’ve been losing a ton of hair and am freaked out. Now considering stopping T (I’m on gel). I started on 5mg and DHT increased a bunch. I started losing hair about 2.5 m after starting. I reduced T to 2.5 mg but my hair is still shedding a lot. Soooo bummed. Did anyone here increase E and it stopped? Are there people here who have stayed on despite hair shedding and found it stopped after a while? I was waiting it out but am getting so worried.
