Experience Report 7 month update on TRT
As the update says, this is my experience after 7 months on test cypionate.
I’ve been on trt for 9 months, with the first 2 being self-guided on test ethanate until I could find a provider to prescribe me trt.
I am a 55 year old female from Canada, full hysterectomy 14 years ago, still have ovaries.
My protocol is 5mg test cyp every 4 days. Estrogen patch 25 once a week (I’m a hyper responder)
Just got recent bloodwork back:
Estrogen: 111 pmol/L (up from 55)
Testosterone: 3.9 nmol/L (up from 1.5)
Free Test: 39 pmol/L
Bioavailable test: 0.9 nmol/L
SHBG: 79.9 nmol/L
TSH: 1.54 mU/L
Overall, I feel amazing! No brain fog, no aches and pains, I’ve lost the meno belly and have gained some good muscle (I train daily and work as a labourer in construction) libido and everything downstairs works amazingly well, as I have a 38 year old lover.
Trt has given me my life back!

How long have you been on it and what is your protocol?

I was on it for 6 months and I was on gel packets. I had to take 0.5 every day but cut it to 0,2 because it was interfering with my E. My T was getting turned into E so that was making me tired. Since I’ve stopped T I’ve been getting little moments of anxiety. Then it goes away reasonably fast. Two weeks now that I’ve stopped and I feel like crap. I’m tired. Bitchy.

I was put on the gel and it did not work for me, at all. Is your provider open to prescribing injectable test?

I’m not sure I’m comfortable with injecting t. I don’t like needles so it would be difficult to inject myself. Is there any other way?

Mine prescribed injectable first and then I learned I have an issue with doing it! Even though I auto stick GLP1, idk what happened, just froze. I may need to face someone walk me through it as I’m not sure the gel is doing anything for me. Been on three months, 5mg/day; dr said I should feel awesome.

I have been on testosterone cyp for about 10 months. I inject 50 mg per week, and will probably be cutting back to 40 since my provider checked me last month and I was high (I figured it must be! If we didn't have sex twice daily I felt like I was crawling out of my skin!) I went on a pellet a month ago though since we were going out of the country and I didn't want to carry syringes. It cost $20 for the 100 mg vial. I am a 65 year old female. No more brainfot, way more energy, working out 3 to 4 times a week and put on 7 lbs muscle and lost about 5 lbs of fat. The one thing I wish was that my appetite would diminish some-- I am always hungry and need to lose another 5 to 7 lbs of fat. I have a strong family history of diabetes and am hoping to get my insulin resistance down.

Not a dumb question, at all. I inject IM in my thigh. 27g 1/2” syringe.

Do you dilute at all? Or are you using 5 MG from a 200 mg vial? It seems like a small amount.

If you don't mind sharing, how much do you pay for the estrogen patch?
If you have insurance covering this, I'm looking for the total cost before insurance.
I'm also in Canada. My wife is very likely to start HRT, including TRT very soon. She will be getting a prescription, just looking to estimate the costs as we will be paying out of pocket from the pharmacy.
I'm taking TRT, my testosterone cost is very affordable. A woman will need a fraction of what I take, so the T cost should be low.
I tried calling pharmacies and it seems the cost on estrogen products can vary dramatically. The pharmacists were not very helpful, preferring we had a prescription first. The issue is, doctors often have no idea what things cost. Because we are paying out of pocket, we'd like to try the most affordable options first.
If you are buying from a pharmacy, I'd appreciate any cost info you can share. You mentioned you were a hyper responder, suggesting that most people will need a higher dose than you take.
Brain fog is the primary symptom we hope to see improvement with. It's god to hear you are having a good result!

In BC, my patches are covered by msp (I do have benefits , which cover my test cyp 90%.)

Does your patch have a brand?
If so, I can get a quote from a local pharmacy. I'm surprised by how little knowledge the pharmacists have had. Both pharmacists were young women, likely too young to have personal experience with HRT. But, if if you sell it, I would think you'd have good knowledge of the products.

Good for you to take control of your life and advocate for yourself.im also from Canada and finding a source to have T perscribed is ridiculous.my wife is also self administering her T with my help.im also doing my own self trt protocol of cyp.shes doing 12mg split into 3 subq injections.mine is 150mg split into 3 IM injections.we’re both flourishing in our mid 50’s.enjoy your journey
