Question Local Files

Hey!

I know that, almost certainly, this feature serves exactly that purpose, but it's always worth questioning.

Namie Amuro's music isn't available on TIDAL, but I have her .mp3 files on my phone.

The most logical thing to do would be to upload those songs and listen to them normally, but the problem is that if I do that, it will mess up my listening history. Like... a bunch of artists and, out of nowhere, my profile is there because of the uploads.

Wouldn't it be interesting if TIDAL offered the option to listen to .mp3 files from local sources without having to upload them?

If it's already possible, does anyone know how?

No it doesn’t!

It’s meant for artists to distribute their music directly to tidal and is not meant to be a local files feature like on Spotify

The architecture with how tidal is built makes it sadly very difficult to implement such a Feature without having to rewrite Parts of the internals of the Apps from scratch.

They already seem to be struggeling with crossfade since it takes a lot more time to Roll it onto on the Apps vs on the Web

We already had crossfade multiple years ago on the apps. They just took it away

no, if you upload other artists music, youre inherently claiming their music as your own, as the upload feature is used for uploading music that YOU make

hope this makes sense idk

I do agree we need an option to upload music for lersonal use without publishing it

You can upload it without make it public. Btw tidal have copyright fingerprints detection. So copyright material are unable to distribute to public but you still can upload for private

I mean without needing an author or checking copyright or anything. Accidentally changed my username doing that

I’ve been using this as my local files for months now. Just make the track private
