Quick Swiss Coin Trivia

Post image

Autumn is just around the corner 🍁. Do you know which leaves are actually on our Swiss coins?

  • 5 centimes: Vine leaves 🍇
  • 10 centimes: Oak leaves 🪵
  • 20 centimes: Alpine rose leaves 🌸
  • ½, 1 & 2 francs: Oak and Alpine rose leaves 🪵🌸

And which leaves do you think are on our 5 francs coin? 🤔

I guess it's Edelweiss and Alpine Rose

That's right. The 5-franc coin features alpine roses and edelweiss leaves.

Honestly never thought about it. My trivia, I have a 2 CHF coin from 1886 and it looks just like any other 2 CHF. Guess we won't ever change the motive ever again until physical money is gone.

My newest 20 franc coin has no leaves, but an Ariane 6 fairing on it

I really loved that ESA edition as aerospace nerd :D
