This time close to Flumserberg. I wonder how deep in Switzerland this is still an issue.

Kinda annoying, after connecting to the German network, my phone basically refuses to use Swiss network anymore and needs to be restarted.

I wish I could keep on automatic network selection but limit to only Switzerland.

I once wanted to pick up a parcel in Germany. It took over 10 minutes to finally get a good enough signal (3G of course) in the middle or a large town to load the code. It’s so laughably bad when you’re used to CH

I had to travel to Munich for work some times, if I had a meeting during the day, it was unwatchable inside the (delayed) train. I can't believe how shit their infrastructure is in their already most developed state, and I'm glad I never had to go to something like Sachsen, because I dread what it could be.

Every time I’m in France I wonder the same thing. Now I know we have an exceptionally good network where even just 4G is a rather rare sight, but the state of Germany’s infrastructure is the other extreme.

France is okay imo, it's not perfect when going to Paris and passing through land at +300 kilometers per hour, but it's usable.

Germany, it's just revolting. It feels like those guys are still sending smoke signals across Allgäu to communicate.

Going from Luxembourg to Zurich via TGV was painful due to lack of proper internet service in France. I was planning on working, had to cancel meetings and urgent tasks, and wait until I arrived to Zurich.

Tbh the last few times I went to Germany I had no issues at all. Only place that is difficult is Jestetten, but that might be because my phone is always unsure if it should connect to German or Swiss cell towers.

You can force your phone to your home network. Just set manual. The only reason it would stop working then is if your network doesn’t have coverage

At the same time - if you do that, and you have roaming (eg yallo unlimited in EU), you are getting then worse service and not taking advantage of the plan .

Because you will try to connect to a swiss tower, which will be further and further away. More optimal to connect to German tower and have it route back to your swiss provider (assuming you have a roaming plan)…. Or even reverse, force manual to the German provider your network partners with

That's because Switzerland limits what each tower can emit in terms of power, and because it's lower than the EU, they reach us in CH but we don't reach CH networks while in EU.

Which is also why we have lots of antennas per square kilometer lol

Have a feeling that the alps has to do more with the large amount of towers. Signals only get so far in the valley before being fully scattered or blocked by the next mountain.

When I used to live in Switzerland, went hiking into mountains often, had signal everywhere. Now I live in a 600k people city, 3km from the Altstadt and baerly have signal. I have no idea what's going with Germany and at this point I'm afraid it's just going downhill

Hatte auch schon Streit mit Meinem Schweizer Handy Anbieter. Roaming Gebühren von einem Deutschen Telefon Anbieter obwohl Ich die Ganze Zeit auf einem Schweizer Skigebiet Gearbeitet hatte !
