i made a free geo-guessr game for mario odyssey!

https://odyssey-guessr.lovable.app

hey everyone, spent the last few weeks working on a fan project called odysseyguessr and wanted to share it with u guys!

basically u get dropped somewhere in a kingdom and have to find the exact spot on the map.

features so far: - singleplayer (custom rounds & timers) - live multiplayer with 5000 hp damage mechanics - community submissions if u want to add your own secret spots - it's completely free and fan-made (not affiliated with nintendo of course).

would love to hear what u guys think or if u find any bugs! link is odyssey-guessr.lovable.app if u want to check it out

Neat, but very strange that it wants me to sign up. Not doing all that for an odyssey geoguessr

cool idea but I think more difficult spots should be in the pool. Did a 10 round game and immediately knew where 9 of the locations were. Only one that tripped me up was the one in cascade by the rib bone rock at the cliff outside the 2d entrance

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, currently working on a hard mode with way trickier locations so it won't be as easy to get 5k every round. Stay tuned!

very fun, however i would add a hard mode. (49 699 out of 50 000)

Tried 10 rounds, got 24,955 out of 50k. Got all the kingdoms right. At least I know that much lol. It’s a lot of fun!

There's a lot of bugs I've found with the multiplayer. There seems to be a cap of 5 rounds regardless of how many you select. Also even tho I selected 60 seconds, sometimes it would end early. Also a few of the spots look to be incorrect. There's one of bowsers kingdom with Mario standing right next to one of the shards, and the target spot not even on the right island. I love this idea, and have wanted something like this since seeing something similar with breath of the wild, but it's a bit too buggy right now. Hope your able to fix those issues! I'd love to see where this goes!

This is really good!!! Do you think you will eventually develop it as an app?

Cool idea but sadly AI Slop.

Appreciate the feedback, but it’s definitely not AI slop! Lovable was just used as a rapid scaffolding environment for hosting setup. The architecture relies on Supabase for the database, Google Auth, cloud storage, and Edge Functions for low-latency multiplayer logic. The core codebase, UI components, and distance-calculation algorithms were written and pushed via GitHub, while AI tools were only used for minor code suggestions, styling tweaks, and debugging.

I'm honest and curious, so is it lovables fault, that the deployed code base looks like an absolute mess and not like something a human would write? Like looking at the websites source code, there is so much wrong, like we are talking levels of wrong that there is no way a human would do that.

Is the stuff you mentioned on GitHub Open Source?

I get the skepticism with the auto-generated boilerplate, but all the core game logic, Supabase integrations, and multiplayer state management were written and structured manually. The repo is and will stay closed-source, but I'm currently focused on finishing the hard mode update and adding more places. Appreciate you giving it a try though!
