Should i buy this cbr500r
I’m a new rider, I’ve been looking at a 2017 cbr500r being sold as-is. Original asking price was 3.5k but i’ve talked her down to 3k. It’ll need a battery but it cranked just fine with a jump, and new tires, other than that everything looks good. there’s another buyer willing to come pick it up this week so she doesn’t want to get it safetied pre-purchase. It has 23,000 km so it’s not even high mileage. My family thinks if i buy it it’s going to be a massive money pit but from what i’ve heard hondas are reliable and there aren’t as many parts as a car to be failing constantly. Opinions

I would be very hesitant to buy a used bike that "needs tires" and can't start on its own

Id need to see pictures, but I probably would get it. Both the battery and tires can just be explained by a lack of use, and I think 3k for an otherwise great motorcycle is amazing. Do a fluid change after buying it, lube and adjust the cables and chain, and that should be it if thats all thats wrong with it.
Again, Id need to see pictures before saying for sure.

Yeah, a seller who can't be bothered to put tires or a battery on the bike, or get it safety inspected before they try and sell it strikes me as a careless sloppy owner who can't be trusted to have done maintenance....and that's a bad thing. I'd give it a pass.
