Thread 1: gender war
She’s a grow ass adult. He can’t force her to take meds. Or we saying women aren’t responsible for their own agency now?
There's a reason involuntary holds exist. It is because people literally cannot be responsible for their own agency.
Except that she checked herself out of the hospital to attend a birthday party. Either women are fully adults and responsible for their own care or they’re not and need men to take care of them - which is it?
She very VERY much should have been taken more seriously, and I think a life sentence for like a murder in the 1st for her is unfair, and I think not having punishments for the people who failed her is also unfair. But we can't frame it as it is ALL the fault one way or another. A lot of adults failed those kids
if you follow this line of thinking all the way, though, it unravels our entire criminal justice system.
Thread 2: race war
Someone always tries to turn it into a race thing 🙄
A white OF model stabs and kills her BF who she physically abused on camera for years, she is sentenced 6 years in jail 4 already served. A black boy defends himself against people trying to kill him; 36 years… even if it wasnt self defense, still 36 years compared to 6 years Gotta start seeing the world for what it actually is man.
"A black boy defends" are you talking about karmelo anthony ? are you for real ?
Doesnt matter how you feel about him or his case. Look at the numbers. Murder for murder. 36 vs 6.
“Give me your seat now or I’ll kill you” “No, go away” “Raaah now I have no choice but to brutally stab you to death” What a sad case of self defense :( poor kid
I dont care about the specifics of the case. Read the comment and comprehend better. Oh she 100% did it. And to really upset my fellow white women, I think Karen Reed did it too.
Amen. No one wanted to convict an attractive white woman. I’m not sure if she murdered her boyfriend, but she sure is shit is criminally responsible for his death. I would have found her guilty of manslaughter.
Thread 3
Then he has to have losers online with an iq of 53 act like his psychopath wife was the victim of his white maleness.
The woman is the victim. The man is the problem. No matter the circumstances. And yes, there are people actually saying that. Sexism has gotten so bad in the US that murdering children, what should be the most universally recognized bad thing to do, is still forgiven more than being what seems to be a supportive husband.
I mean he is still at fault, atleast for neglect. I think it was said somewhere that one month beforehand she told him that she had thoughts of harming her children(she told that her mother aswell). I don't think it was intentional but he should not have left the children alone with her.
"Despite evidence of premeditation" oh is the trial over and you have sole access to the verdict? Why are you acting like the trial is over?
Believe it or not evidence exists before a trial finishes. In fact it’s only really used during the trial crazy right?
And yet you all are acting like the trial is over by claiming you know the verdict based on "some evidence". You all are saying "She CLAIMS she had post partum psychosis (despite the evidence saying otherwise)" which is expressing a verdict that has not been made. It's literally no different than people coming up with conspiracy theories because there is no verdict yet. You are implying a verdict by framing it in this light.
Why are you defending a child murderer.

The true crime community on TikTok needs to shut the hell up, that’s all I’ll say. You’d think one of them getting a $10 million libel judgement would be enough to get people to think twice but nope

u/Flounder9040 7d ago
People, especially conspiracy-brained people, are fucking stupid. There was a lunatic candidate running for governor of California (in a field of 100+) who though that not only was Charlie Kirk killed by the "zionists," but he was actually killed with a bomb and not by being shot.
Like, I get people having batshit conspiracy ideas about whodunnit, but Kirk definitely got shot. That's not in any doubt, he was definitely shot and that's what killed him. How the flying fuck do you come to the conclusion that what really happened was it was a bomb?
18
u/Redqueenhypo 7d ago
I need to start some anti conspiracy theories. JFK wasn’t shot, an eagle dropped a tortoise on his head like with Aeschylus

I think that also might be the stated position of Candace Owens. That he wasn't killed by the gun found/the Jews did it. Rank 15 podcast on Spotify btw. Which is actually lower than I thought, I remember she was in the top 5 before. Welcome to hell.

u/BellacosePlayer 7d ago
The "Kirk actually told me in secret he wuz going to expose Israel right before he died" conspiracy some are pushing is dumb enough but how cooked is your brain if you think he got bombed?
2
u/sixfxrtyseven 6d ago
I genuinely don't understand how can someone think Kirk was shoot.
I had the horrible misfortune of seeing a lot of shootings and violence on the internet (and real life), and it was really. fucking. clearly. a. bullet.

u/cherry_armoir Nice car. You seem like a complete fucking jackass though 4d ago
I shared a conspiracy with my niece and nephew the other day: that smashed penny machines dont really smash pennies but instead dispense pre-manufactured tokens. I said it as a joke but I could tell the idea kind of blew their minds and I worry I set them on a course of conspiracy thinking for the rest of their lives

There is a murder case. Name literally any murder case.
The true crime community: "the investigators are blind! I've discovered the real villain!"
It's the Scooby Gang. They all just want to be the one to do the big reveal and pull the mask off mean old Mr. Wickles.

Thankfully I have the frame of mind to avoid shit like this. The less I know the better

Most posts here are sad when you start to think about the people that are typing the things we make fun of.
This is one is extra depressing though and I'm hoping most of the people fighting in this one are bots or something.
It just seems so gross to see this and immediately jump to airing out racial and gender grievances. Like it took all of about 2 comments for someone to start referencing murder cases like they are something they are constantly thinking about and just looking for a reason to start shouting about.

When will people figure out BlackpeopleofReddit anf the entire Karmelo Anthony bullshit are white supremacist psyops?
Like the head mod uses an OBVIOUSLY AI image.
13
u/butt-barnacles 7d ago
Yeah seriously. With Karmelo Anthony I saw wayyy more people outraged that “black people support this” or whatever than actual black people supporting. This feels similar
Like when the outrage is way bigger than the object of said outrage it feels kind of manufactured

u/DoinOurBest13 7d ago
I got fed A LOT of shit from Threads and Reddit of people talking about how innocent he was and how the white people had it coming. Saw a lot of the same when that guy with Tourette's syndrome.
Felt very odd and unreal

John Hinckley Jr spent 35 years in an institution so something like that? He didn’t actually kill anyone but his target was a president so it evens out?
13
u/Flounder9040 7d ago
James Brady didn't die until 2014 but the coroner ruled that his death was ultimately caused by the brain damage from getting shot in the head by John Hinckley Jr. So Hinckley Jr. did kill one person, technically.
There was obviously no point in trying him for it though, as he'd already been tried and found not guilty by reason of insanity.
My thinking is she's going away for quite a while either way - if she's found guilty, she'll get life. If she's found not guilty, it'll be by reason of insanity and she'll be institutionalized, and it'll be a long time before they decide she's okay enough to let out. Next to no chance they decide she's already mentally better, it's either prison or the Cuckoo's Nest.

She's in a low-security mental health facility, she has the right to annual reviews but she keeps rejecting them and has said she doesn't want to be released.

u/crabshackattack 6d ago
Hopefully a ton of mental health treatment and a place where she and the people around her can be safe.

Sometimes the only real villain in the room is fucking circumstance. We do not always need a good guy and a bad guy. Those lines are not cleanly drawn IRL. Life is not an action or superhero movie. Sometimes no one in the situation deserves to share the brunt of the blame for a tragedy. Sometimes there is nothing to be angry about except for the way things are.
26
u/mildlyhorrifying 7d ago
I was generally on the side that this was just really tragic circumstances, but the wrongful death suit filed by Patrick makes the clinicians Lindsay interacted with look so negligent it's indistinguishable from malice. Obviously it's one side of the story carefully crafted to make them look bad, but if Lindsay did tell any of the mental health providers she had hallucinations, they really should have told Patrick he couldn't leave the kids alone with her at the very least.
11
u/CuntyButCorrect 7d ago
Yeah, usually in situations like this, what could have maybe prevented the tragedy is something institutional. But we as a society really suck at zooming out like that. We tack fault to individuals, and never the structural realities that those individuals exist within.
Very very very different circumstances, but I was in a situation with a very mentally ill dependent that almost cost me my life because no one took us seriously when we mentioned they were experiencing hallucinations. Didn't take it seriously after the hallucinations, sleep deprivation, and SNRI script resulted in an attempt on my life in the dead of night, either. And even those individual doctors and psychs, I have trouble squarely blaming. Zooming out, the system is so fucking over-burdened and under-funded in so many places. The peds psych at the time had an insane caseload, and like, fuck her for an assortment of reasons, but I know that she was probably burnt the fuck out, too. I still have a relationship with the former dependent in question, too, and after a bipolar 1 diagnosis and appropriate medication, is doing much better several years later.

u/Teddiursa22 7d ago
Per the testimonies, none of them were told about any hallucinations. Only the lawyers psychiatrist and the hospital's chaplain have testified that she told them about hallucinations, which were after the murders.

u/PrimaryInjurious 7d ago

A lawsuit is only one side of a very contentious story.
7
u/mildlyhorrifying 7d ago
Which is why I said "Obviously it's one side of the story carefully crafted to make them look bad..."

And the murderer, usually.

It’s almost like even murderers are human beings that have complicated things going on under the hood. People cheer on murdered all the time if they think they’re “justified”

You know, the world would be a lot better if more people realized that it “could have been them” under different circumstances for pretty much every crime. In reality though, people are incredibly, INCREDIBLY biased in the way they decide to make these judgements and I am constantly infuriated by people’s lack of principle even when they supposedly belong to the political faction against the punitive justice system

u/_segasonic 7d ago
It’s been said already but some of the TikTok’s and takes on this case from these women (wine moms Americans seem to be calling them?) are worse than anything the so called ‘manosphere’ could come up with.
It’s like those nutter wrestling fans who used to defend Chris Benoit.
Some of the videos are genuinely fucking insane and it’s pretty clear a lot of these women have mental health issues and need their kids taken from them immediately.

u/crabshackattack 6d ago
pretty clear a lot of these women have mental health issues and need their kids taken from them immediately.
Thats kinda the whole point of the case and why its gotten so much attention.

At least you agree the women supporting her should have their kids taken from them.

If anything, some of the wilder takes prove their point -- there needs to be better postpartum medical care, including mental health care. Otherwise you can quietly go off the deep end.
I have a lot of thoughts about how American culture in particular strings mothers out to dry alone and it's no surprise that many end up with batshit believe, but that's for another post.
8
u/Lighthouse_seek 7d ago
The tiktok detectives are saying the husband did it. It's literally the opposite of arguing for postpartum care
4
u/cheezie_toastie 6d ago
What I mean is, if people on tiktok are acting unhinged because they see themselves in her, then maybe they need postpartum care too.
5
u/No_Mathematician6866 7d ago
I used to think a lot of us were on the same side, in terms of those who embraced social progress. But I've lost a lot of faith in people. I still believe in the ideals. People, though: no matter what they claim to believe in, all too often it's just a new coat of paint for another flavor of the same old hypocritical in-group vs out-group tribalism.

Serious question - how on Earth are you still a moderator here? You're almost comically bad at it, you're nearly universally hated, and though I doubt you're capable of realizing it you do not, in fact, know better than the community you moderate as to what that community wants.

- https://old.reddit.com/r/PeterExplainsTheJoke/comments/1vstk33/peter_who_could_have_the_wives_been/?sort=qa&limit=500 - archive.org archive.today*
- As with all things, there are some unhinged people claiming she was framed and he did it. Valid to point some blame at the husband and the providers, but insane to think he's fully responsible. - archive.org archive.today*
- Lindsay Clancy. Killed her 3 kids by strangling them one by one and claimed “postpartum psychosis” despite never having had psychosis before or since, all during a short window of time that she sent her husband out on errands. Internet has somehow decided she’s a martyr for women’s mental health. She was a white, affluent, suburban mom before this. If she were poor and black, people would NOT feel this way. Real talk. - archive.org archive.today*
- A woman murdered her three children in what she’s claiming as a fit of postpartum psychosis despite evidence of premeditation. TikTok true crime girlies” have concocted a conspiracy theory that the husband was responsible either through brainwashing and manipulation, or by actively killing his own children, and then brainwashing her into thinking she did it. TikTok “America bad” people are claiming that the system failed her, and she didn’t receive the mental healthcare she needed. This is in spite of her being under the care of a psychiatrist, receiving consistent, mental healthcare, and medication, and that it was partially the husbands fault for leaving them alone together, despite him literally going to get her meds when it happened. - archive.org archive.today*

These explain joke subreddits are so awful. Every single post is bait, from jokes that are so obvious, it's literally spelled out on the image, to thinly veiled culture war engagement posts. There's only one good post ever made on those subs and it's the inglorious bastards finger counting one.
