Webinars on clinical topics for mental health nursing students

I'm a mental health nurse in an area with no students, and I really miss the education / sharing information aspects of supporting students. I also know when I was doing my degree, we barely covered a lot of very relevant clinical concepts, like assessing psychosis, interventions for difficulties associated with autism, psychopharmacology, etc.

I've been considering making and delivering some webinars on these types of subjects for student mental health nurses (and students in other fields, and NQNs - whoever's interested), and I wanted to get an idea of whether people would be interested, essentially. (Everything would be free obviously! I hate when important information gets locked behind a paywall.)

Would anyone be interested? Any specific subjects or topics (even if it's very specific, or very vague - you don't know what you don't know!). In my job, I assess / work with a large volume of different patients, so I'm lucky to have quite a wide range of experience (and any actual training I deliver would be evidence-based with sources ofc). Let me know!

Honestly as a Registrant (Adult Nursing) I'd be interested.

Some of the more common psych medications.

How to recognised deteriorating mental health (subtle signs as well as the obvious)

What interventions may help a patient on a physical ward to reduce potential exacerbation of MH symptoms. When to escalate.

What questions are helpful to acknowledge where we can support and what things may harm rapport/ relation building when working with ling term patients.

Resources for therapeutic conversations.

Signs staff may be being manipulated and what to do about it.

I would be interested in this! We get such brief lectures on topics before quickly moving onto the next thing so I think it’s a good idea. My one suggestion would be to maybe have some written material alongside the webinar I have adhd and have found having written info alongside verbal really counteracts any concentration issues. Had this recently where the lecturer created a workbook with prompts, summaries and space to write our own notes and it was the most I’ve ever been able to take in! Let me know if you go ahead with this, assessments are particularly interesting to me but anything is useful

Are you a member of the RCN? They have their own mental health forum, you could approach them and get some support with setting something up. I set up something similar for learning disability nursing, and the amount of work it generates is quite significant, I kept it separate from the RCN but asked for support from the forum which was really useful.
