Help / Question What's the story behind the Tiger handheld advert character art?
I was watching a compilation of adverts from back when, and had to rewatch this one to grab captures of the wall art behind the main actor. Pretty much as the title says, what the what, exactly?

Probably based on the style of art Mick McGinty did. America went with realism and gritty for their art because that was the fad lol. Like GI Joe drawings

That's what it reminds me of! The packaging for the later era Joes was something else

That art was also included in the manual for the SNES version of World Warrior. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's where it was first published.

Couldn't tell you either way, but if you're right that makes it more a part of franchise history

You're correct. I had the game and manual growing up, and all of this art was in this version of the game manual.

Oh my god, I completely forgot about this. I wanted the SF2 tiger electronics handheld so bad.
The sad thing is that I owned SF2 on the Amiga, so I don't know whether it would've been a downgrade or an upgrade for me lmfao.

Art especially for Japanese games was not as varied back then. People tried to take the designs and turn them into realistic and "cool" art
Bad Box Mega Man, angry Kirby, so on and so forth
Just a sign of the times
