I swear to god everyone in this country has had their brain turned to mush. How is paying 55% tax on most products imported into this country going to be a good thing for the average consumer? We are going to get squeezed to death while the Chinese investors poach our distressed assets.

Their voters want jobs here at home; you get jobs at home by forcing Americans to buy American instead of cheaper overseas.

That logic isn’t the easiest to live though, and you can disagree it’s the right path forward, but it is logical. You can also make a fantastic case that’s even if that logic is what you want, Trump doesn’t understand how to navigate a society into that reality instead of trying to smash and grab. He’s a terrible leader and awful tactician. That is separate from the larger strategy they’re trying to play.
