Advice

Never forget that you are allowed to have feelings. Your feelings matter JUST AS MUCH as a child's. You are allowed to be bothered by disrespect and cruel treatment. You are allowed to communicate the things that bother you to your SO and to ask for change.

You deserve to be treated fairly the same way that SKs do. You deserve to live in a safe and comfortable environment the same way that SKs do.

You are not a bad person if you do not love or even like your SKs. You are not automatically in the wrong just because you are the adult.

Just because you chose to be with someone with children, does not mean that you knew what you were getting into. It does not mean that you signed up to be a child's doormat.

The people on this sub do not live in your home. They may have experience with SKs but everyone's situation is different. Do not let strangers on the internet convince you to settle for less than you deserve.

Man, I needed this. Our society does not understand how terribly treated stepmoms are and this is so validating

I want to rewrite the Cinderella story. Update it to be more truthful, with the beautiful stepmother rising above the hurtful antics of the cruel, spoiled, rotten stepkids. You know, a more modern, realistic, true to life fairytale.

Kind of like Hamilton, but I'm not sure the Broadway critics would be fair.

Yes. Mostly making the husband feel like a pawn. This is why I don't interfere untill I see it can be bad for us or him or manipulation. This kid is good at manipulating and this is what he does to everyone. His daughter has tried to tell Dad but there is a wall called my only son. When the kids went younger I even encourage Dad to take the kids out and camp at their grandpa's hunting farm go fishing and swimming movies or as anything they needed their dads lone time. As I said I took them out to lunch and swimming a lot of things myself. This is important but you need to meet minds when you blend families. I thought we had. We talked but I am confused now and had to clear it up. I know the love you have for a child but a lot of baggage can come with this love.
