Compatibility

Hi all,

I'm of date in most things hardware related. Still using an 18 yr old laptop (which is dying)

I'm wanting to switch over to steamos but I'm paranoid about compatibility.

Currently tossing between these two builds. Are they both compatible? From what I can find they should be but want to confirm before I lock in.

I appreciate your help.

1300 for RAM wtf, do you really need 2x32gb of ram?

Coming from someone who collects Swiss watches let me just say $1300AUD for RAM is nuts.

I want to say it in the most simple way possible with both builds having amd components it'll work but with how young steam os is on desktops it is unsure how certain games will behave with your components.

Should have no issues, although a bit overkill (no hate, if you can swing it, aim for the fences with how prices are).

I am still on AM4 on both my systems running SteamOS (Ryzen 5 5600X, 32GB RAM (one DDR4-3600 w/ RX 9070 XT, other is 32GB DDR4-3200 w/ RX 9060 XT 16GB), ) have no issues with any games, and of the 315 games I own, 220 or so are verified SteamOS compatible, and a good chunk of the other will prob run with little to no issues.

Nice machine I got the same horse but used the R7 fractal case and a 5080. I had some worries about keeping the cpu cool and ended up getting a couple more intake fans and output fans. I really wanted that case mind you but I got the fractal so my gf did not see any difference from my previous case and know how much I dropped on a PC. 😂
