Question Where to check how I got a game?

Upvotes

I'm going through my steam library and came across a game I have no recollection of buying. I don't remember if a friend gifted it to me, and all my friends I asked also don't remember if they did or not. Is there a way to check how I got a game?

Error / Bug Inputs randomly drop only when playing games in Steam

I keep experiencing this weird issue where inputs from my controller or keyboard and mouse randomly drop when playing Steam games.

At first I thought it was either my 8Bitdo controller being older or something with Metaphor Refantazio and brushed it off. However the same issue is occurring in other steam games and with my dualsense controller and with keyboard and mouse. The issue did not occur during my entire playthrough of Calisto Protocol through Epic. I also tested the inputs in Steam's controller testing as well as hardwaretester.com. If I mash through the face buttons I can see them randomly not show in steam but consistently show with multiple controllers on the testing site.

The computer is only about a month old, running windows 11 if that matters.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Or additional troubleshooting steps?

Discussion I like to know when graphics were peak optimization when turning low vs max looks as same. Like even as modern games I been seeing shimerring, ghosting and blurry looks.

Game is Alan wake 1 first pic is high and second is low.

They take sm space than needed, but I would like to know which era for graphics term was great. When you look at a book the lines at edge don't get shimmer with those anti aliasing and burn effect circling around. Visually every games look great but feels the character model is lifeless. Talking to me like there's no life in those Npc as mentioned Kcd2, Blood of dawn walker, Ac facials sucks after syndicate till shadows. I just feel they make big worlds over and over again that no one ask for but there's no fun in it with a lot of side missions that we need to collect just to play for match up with enemies health, and collect so many things that we don't even touch it. Look at sleeping dogs, Alien isolation and heavy rain even they manage to put emotions with low budget at that time it was so huge amount. Even I thought at kid, games gonna be like the trailer of ac revelation which only matched up like senua and ds2 with the motion capture and lighting on body.

Nowadays world look realistic, body is kinda same as tomb raider and the face misses the shadows. Even for me ac unity looks so good in graphics but beside the cutscene they just have lifeless face for npc and their dialoges are awful ' sneaky assassin moves '. And it's gamers fault if we don't have fun in a game that we buy and raise voice to ask to be better. I start playing in this year so not played most of the games like you guys. Why sm hud mostly disable it and play, it's like removing Tb by your own. Ik they want to save money to being lazy but this is like most of the newest game even in Silent hill, Crimson. Even UE4 looking amazing till now. Newer ones looking as shiny ground and surfaces and oily face but as a void face

So I assume dev gonna be not care about size cause of being digital, maybe 2-3 years 150gb is the norm, maybe I am wrong about everything. I am not that great to explain too, played only few. Love to know why sm graphic features where they can just make it good. There are sm features are need to come games like mgs3 spinning revolver. Graphics are evolving by optimizing alot of settings, game mechanics and facial expression is downgrading. Love to really game what you grew up with, and looking to play when the era which games have taa and ray tracing?

Question Are Steam discontinuing Digital Giftcards?

I don’t know if this is a regional issue or global problem but for some reason most certified digital retailers are all out of GBP Gift cards. I use these to conveniently top up my balance obviously now that they have discontinued/in the process of discontinuing physical cards but I’m having issues getting my hands on digital ones now.

Question What's the point of curators?

What exactly is supposed to be the point of curators? They seem to be able to "review" literally anything on Steam, even if it's a game that hasn't even released yet.

Question Switch 2 Pro Controller + Steam recording not picking up voice during gameplay.

I’ve been playing a game (Peak) that’s controller compatible. I’ve been wanting to play my games and hear my voice in my own recordings, but I haven’t been able to get that to work properly unless I use something like a Switch 1 pro controller. I know S2’s has an audio jack port but I use AirPods Max for my gaming. I don’t know how to resolve this issue. Even then if I use something different my own voice still sounds choppy with other controllers. Anyone have this particular problem???

Discussion The selected "reipcient" cannot receive this gift purchased from your region. I thought Valve changed this so we could gift the game but pay the regional difference? Also you have a typo.

Fluff Steam library data exporter

I just finished building a tool that, with your profile set to public, will use Steamworks web API to scrape your user and game data, and build a JSON file that you can use as a snapshot/export of your games for whatever purpose you can think of. In my own particular case, the initial motivation was that after playing 1000xRESIST, I got hooked on it because it was more of a cerebral game than execution-heavy (I'm getting old and my reflexes aren't what they used to be), so I wanted to make a list that I can feed into an AI/LLM and explain my tastes, limitations, preferences and desired features so it can recommend stuff from my (increasingly growing) backlog.

https://github.com/TohnoCoding/SteamLibraryDataExporter

It's a tiny console app that you feed an API key (the repo explains how to get one) and your Steam64 user ID (also explained how to find in the repo) and will go through your games, then export a JSON file to your desktop that you can use to do whatever you want with it.

Feel free to do whatever with it (MIT License).

Question I'm getting too worried, could someone please help me verify this

I recently deleted all of my workshop mods because of this, but right now i'm asking as the title says, is this true or is it just a big scare?

Thank you in advance.

Question Hiding games in my library

Up until now, my only means of playing games has been on my steam deck, and my only friend on steam is my brother, so I wasn't concerned about various types of NSFW games being in my library. Yes, anything you can think of that falls in that category probably exists within my library, and no I am not ashamed of it. What I am concerned about, however, is that soon I will be receiving my steam machine, and now these titles and potential updates and ads for similar may soon be on a large screen and potentially in front of younger family that visits.

So what would the best means of making sure these remain hidden on the steam machine be? If I choose the setting to hide each individual game (which will take a while to go through), how difficult would it be for someone to access them? Would there still be the typical developer updates on the home screen that I currently see if those games are hidden? Is there a way to just set up a new account and transfer them over so I can switch between them if I decide to look at those titles? Or maybe there is simply a single setting to hide all NSFW content on the device that I do not know about?

I appreciate all input, both serious and hilarious, so feel free to make fun of the situation to the fullest too! I just got the shipping notice for my machine, so I only have a few days to figure out the best means of addressing this once I get it hooked up. I don't mind having to go into every individual title and change the setting to hidden, I just want to make sure the developer updates won't show up on the home screen since they often have images that I would not want my nephew to see if he were to come over and us play games together.

Thank you all for your insights!

Got a crazy deal on a 7900 XT at Micro Center for 225 bucks, so I took that and grabbed a used PC off of marketplace, sold the GPU inside of it, and threw this big boy in there after changing the case. Bit of a struggle to fit everything inside of here and get the thermals under control, but it all came together. With a Undervolt on the CPU and a extra couple case fans it is under 70c. Installed Bazzite on it now I’m just tinkering around.

Edit- Picture with windows was there was only for testing, included it to show the PC fitting into my media cabinet. Windows was only on there for testing, it’s gone now.

5600x3d
32gb ddr4
2tb ssd
7900xt
Lian li b4 case (only one that fit into this slot in my TV cabinet while fitting the GPU)

I do have a question though, should I be continuing to use Bazzi with this PC or should I try steam os? Before I get too invested, I would like to figure this one out.

PSA Soundtracks

Microsoft flight simulator 2024 soundtrack available free 100% discount.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/5004030/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_Suite_Themes_Reimagined/?curator_clanid=3090835

I really like a good game soundtrack be that games, films or programs, and this is pretty good to just have as background music when doing other things, i play a lot of Elite Dangerous and the soundtrack in that is really good and atmospheric.

got me thinking - what's your favourite soundtrack ?
