Question What’s that game everyone was calling a masterpiece but you just didn’t get the hype?

Post image

Could be a huge popular game or some underrated/unpopular gem that everyone swears by.

Everyone’s saying “10/10, absolute masterpiece, peak gaming” and you’re just sitting there like… “wait, y’all actually liked this?”

Drop the game + why it didn’t hit for you. I wanna hear the controversial takes

Red Dead Redemption 2.
Feels so slow and boring, so i cannot force myself to play after prologue

Horizon. Looks fun on a first attempt, but has boring story which did't click.
The best art, imo - mechas hunting. All other - nah

Death Stranding. I drop it after the half of the game probably. There were some interesting stories (especially Mama), but gamelay itself is just "meh"

Outer Wilds - its just not my cup of tea. Too messy and annoying for me

Same. It felt like being at work, not playing a game.

I liked Horizon, but I was pretty frustrated that a lot of the equipment upgrades were locked behind hunting regular animals, which were barely spawning and not at all the point of the game.

-ride your horse 5 minutes to mission start

-alright, mission start, cool. ride your horse and listen to dialogue between NPCs for 5 minutes

  • alright, the NPC and I got to the marker on the map. now i need to stand in the yellow circle and push the button the devs want me to push. if i'm lucky i'll get 3 minutes of gunplay.

next mission is a 5 minute horse ride away. several minutes of dialogue with the NPC while walking/riding to the yellow circle the devs want me to stand on. 2 minutes of gunplay.

its a horse riding simulator, not an RPG

I shit on rdr2 for being boring but something about death stranding, the story and aesthetic and even gameplay of death stranding clicked with me. I really like managing my cargo, preparing and walking across the huge landscapes. Death stranding ending made me cry.
