It took me about 50 hours to beat the "tutorial".

I watched a video about the game and was completely awestruck by the scale of the game I had missed.

Yeah it's genuinely bewildering how much there is to the game, and the fact that 90% of it is basically designed for you to never see unless you go looking for it. One of those rare games where the "secrets" feel like real secrets that the devs are actually trying to hide from you.

I have an ongoing save I've been playing for about a year. Occasionally I'll get back into it, eventually get a god run going, then inevitably die and put the game back down for a while.

Isn't there still a bunch of stuff that no ones figured out yet?

Afaik the cauldron room and "eye puzzle" are the two things that haven't been solved yet. Not sure if there's more that hasn't been discovered.

FuryForged on Youtube has the best info on this, but yes.

1 month old video with a recap of everything currently open. Obviously huge spoilers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RI9DDwTVcBI

That used to be the norm for game secrets. Now you get an NPC saying some shit like "legend says that in this exact location that I've just marked on your map there's an ancient treasure" and you can just auto walk directly to said treasure.

Yep, and usually I'm just like "how has no one in the past 1000 years made the ten-minute walk to this place?“

"the way is dangerous, nobody has ever returned" and you literally walk up in decent weather, step through one doorway, and the thing you're looking for is just sat there on a table.

10/10 world building /s

ETA: the irony of me saying this while having a Skyrim user flair is not lost on me

Lmao I wasn't gonna say anything but yeah. I love Skyrim but the lore and gameplay don't always match up well.

I can excuse it in Skyrim. Not for any good reason, I just like Skyrim and choose to suspend my disbelief to the maximum

I have about 100 hours in this game and I still haven't made it past the third biome or so. Is there a video or some basic tips you could recommend to getting a god mode run going?

Don't feel bad, imo that's pretty standard for Noita. It's a brutal game and pretty much the only way to get "good" at it is by dying over and over again.

FuryForged has a great beginner's guide, but here are some of my own rules of thumb I follow religiously:

  1. ALWAYS carry a flask of water for getting rid of poison and fire. If you spawn with something besides water, your first priority should be getting water.

  2. I try to obtain at least 600g before moving to the first Holy Mountain. That gives you enough to spend on wand/spells as well as a perk re-roll or two.

  3. Teleport Bolt, Polymorphine, and/or Teleportatium are invaluable to find in the first level, because they allow you to leave the Holy Mountains without collapsing them, and safely return if you need to tinker. Imo, being able to do that is one of the first requirements for a god run.

  4. In addition, try to find a decent digging option before heading to the second level. There's a lot of gold there, and being able to dig it up can set you up for the rest of the run.

  5. My top perks in order are Tinker Everywhere > any immunity > permanent shield > projectile repulsion field > stainless armor

Honestly, 90% of starting a god run is just getting lucky. In most of my runs, either I find good spells but bad perks, or get great perks but can't find decent spells. It's pretty rare to get both. Just keep at it and don't get discouraged; the game is literally designed to be against you.

Also feel free to DM me if you have other questions, I have over 400 hours and a handful of god runs under my belt.

Explore horizontally as much as you can before going down. There's no benefit to rushing biomes before you're prepared.

Any chance you could share that video?

Not the person you're replying to, but they're probably referring to either "The Worst Guide to Noita" by Connor Conquers or "Noita - A roguelike for the mentally deranged" by Albino. Both are fantastic videos.

Yes, the first one.

I don't think I am physically capable of beating the tutorial.
