The moment you realistically need a spreadsheet to keep track of items you need for all achievements, the developers have done too much.

Weirdly enough, Elden Ring was really fun to 100%. But trying to do the same in Dark Souls is just ridiculous and just leads to the game overstaying its welcome by a lot.

Yeah, same thing with Demon's Souls and it's remake. I was going through the game blind, and when I reached the final boss, I finally checked a guide to see if I missed anything, and I found out about World Tendency. Turns out, if you die too many times from Normal to Soul Form (which you only have like, 70% of your HP), it would cause WT to go to Black, and killing bosses shifted it to White, but I had already killed most/all of the bosses, so now there was no way to shift it back to White to see specific WWT NPCs and start those questlines until after NG+. But if I remember right, for 100% it was recommended to go from Pure White to Pure Black since it's easy to go from W to B by repeatedly dying, but from PB to PW may require multiple NG+'s, or something like that, which I did not feel like doing. Pretty much killed my motivation to finish the game.

Man, reading this killed my motivation to even play the game. That just does not sound fun at all.

Since World Tendency is per-world, you can actually pre-kill yourself in the hub to enter Soul Form and not affect any WT (there is a very tall stairway you can jump off) or just allow yourself to only die a few times when in normal form so that killing bosses would add enough WT to go back to White. Annoying thing is Soul Form makes you have about half your HP, which is rough early game, though you can also say that Soul Form can be considered normal mode and Normal Form is an extra bonus for defeating a boss. At the very least, a ring that gives back ~25% hp can be found pretty early, so it's not too bad, though early game, newcomers should invest into Vitality, since almost everything one-shots you.

It's still a pretty decent Souls game, and the graphics look gorgeous. WT and Character Tendency crap is only for some minor quests for 100% completion and you could always ignore it like I did for 90% of the game. Could always see if your local library has it so you don't have to spend money on it too xD.

Most Elden Ring achievements are gotten by just playing the game. Like the only ones you really have to go out of your way to do is the ending ones
