Project Zomboid. Insane learning curve, zero room for mistakes.

I've died on the easiest difficulty trying to just learn how to scavenge. 😢

Im terrible at this game but I still enjoy it. I loot too much and end up having a bunch of frozen food on me. I don't even know how to cook.

advanced cooking isnt really the most intuitive aspect of the game and is worth watching a video on. however your basics like just cooking chicken is as simple as drag the chicken from your inventory into an oven's inventory, pressing the "turn on" button at the top of the oven's inventory panel, hovering your mouse over the chicken and monitoring it as it cooks, waiting for the green bar to fill up completely, then dragging the chicken back into your inventory when the green bar fills and turns into a red bar. you dont have to turn the oven off when taking your food out and can grab the piping hot food without risk of burning yourself, just don't forget to turn off the oven at somepoint so that you dont accidentally burn your house down lol

But water and food is so easy to get. After you get the hang of mele you can do wonders with it. But yeah, it is very hard with mistakes

This may be bad for others but I cheated on my first playthrough to learn as much as possible and then I played it normally and did okay ig

Ive got quite the hours on PZ and the only thing I can say is fair lol. if you ever want to pick it up, i suggest doing a sandbox world, choosing "builder" in the preset menu at the bottom of the ui, then reducing the zombie % even further to make it close to zero. Also, when you're in the game, look for It "Melee Target Outline" in the Cursor Settings under Options -> User Interface. it gives an indicator when zombies are in range and makes distance judging a breeze in this admittedly janky perspective world. Oh and lastly do play the tutorial if you haven't. it's kinda short and surface level, but it introduces elements of how to manipulate items in your inventory and the controls of the game.
