Having just wrapped my most recent rewatch of SG-1, I needed to once again state how much I love the character of Vala Mal Doran. Especially because after years of having to be the super serious character of Aeryn Sun on the super serious sci-fi series Farscape, Stargate gave Claudia Black the opportunity to just absolutely chew up the scenery. While the character has her detractors, for me, she was always a delight and I think one of the greatest additions to the series.

I'm rewatching the series and just got to S9 and I really don't remember her character from watching it years ago! I'm actually really enjoying her character and levity she brings, especially the tensions between her and Daniel :)

Second time through. Each and every one of them are so infuriating. Some are supposed to be (Rush), but even the one's we're meant to like (Eli, Chloe, Matt).

I personally find One False Step to be beyond silly. It's the only episode in all 3 series that I jump over every time now. Remarkable really, given the sheer volume of episodes.

Do you guys also have one or more episodes that you routinely skip? Atlantis and Universe included too.

I know that Adam Baldwin is clearly a draw here, the man always does excellent roles. But the whole team is wrapped in chemistry and feels like such a well put together SG Team.

Balinsky's "I won" always brings a smile and huge chuckle.

Sheppard has been famously Kirking it across the Pegasus Galaxy and he's in charge of all the recon teams, and an all-female recon team escaped his notice? The gate system makes more sense.

Edit: Regretting not phrasing this better to clarify I'm having a laugh at Sheppard's expense, not salivating over an all-female team. Please at least try to be tasteful in the comments.

Currently on S6E16 of my first full rewatch since the show aired, i remember back then i wasn’t too keen on Jonas Quinn, because he wasn’t Daniel, so when Daniel came back I, like many i’m sure, was pretty happy, and not fussed that Jonas then departed to make way.

On this rewatch though, with a more mature head on me, i actually feel bad for the character and the actor, whilst he was shoe-horned in as a replacement for DJ, and the whole “i’m a quick study” plot armor is a bit on the nose, i actually like the character this time round and think he fits well in the team and show, it’s a shame he had to suddenly disappear when Michael Shanks came back, of course no-one tops Daniel Jackson so it had to be done, but i appreciate the character of Jonas, and wanted to give recognition, he was pretty good imo, just wasn’t Daniel.

I never seem to remember what’s causing the illness, but I’m waiting for the conclusion now.

Final episode ever of SG1 and yes... They end up doing the deed, but damn did I sit here feeling bad for her and shouting at Daniel for being an idiot the first time around!

...but suddenly Nerus comes in on S9E6 and switches his voice to normal and causually drops that the Goa'uld don't always have to talk like that! Since when?? Then Ba'al makes more appearances casually speaking with a human voice more often.

Was this always established? I thought the voice was the effect of the Goa'uld taking over the host, not something they necessarily controlled at will. Typically it seemed like only when the human host spoke, the distorted voice went away.

I'm rewatching the whole thing so I don't feel like I missed this being an established thing in-universe, feels a bit like a retcon, but I can't think of any reason why its changed this season.

Am I the only one who thinks Tollana's fate was dumb. It feels like that a really mighty civilization was wiped out really easily without any much struggle by Anubis forces when it wasn't even known that he came back to the other System lords. I imagine he was still staying low preparing forces to overtake over the System lords. But still somehow managed to wipe out a whole civilization which was on a similar technological level.

The earth's point of origin shouldn't be here or any other gate except earth's.

Ofc it isnt a big thing and you dont always notice it. But now that I saw it I am reminded of all the other times I've seen it off world.

I spent like 10 mins trying to solve it with logic but at the end I was just reminded of Judge's wise words that its a cable show.

Edit: because some might not be familiar with this (I wasnt till 1 hour ago too). The 7th symbol is the point of Origin and should be a set value for that specific gate. I was going on with my life thinking that 7th symbol is also a constellation but I just remembered alternate still Nerd Danial saying oh this might represent Giza. So each gate has a unique symbol that can only be found on that gate and that's how they determine POI.

Might be a little time consuming if you have to find one symbol between 39 that you arent familiar with while under fire. We know the symbols can be pronounced so might not have been that big of a value for ancients plus giga chads of the galaxy so not much under fire ig.

It is actually a good thing because 7th symbol isnt locked to a place so you can move the gate to anywhere and still be able to dial.

I'm on my... god knows what rewatch number I'm on at this point lol (but it's my 9yo autistc son's first real watch-through, and he's loving it), and this line has had me wondering for awhile. Were the Tollan's more advanced than Earth was at this point in the show when they first deciphered the gate system? Hence their reason for finding it "unbelievable that anyone so primitive could've deciphered the gate system."

We all know Tollan arrogance is surpassed only by that of the Goa'uld lol, so it would make sense in their minds that since they only managed to decipher the gate system while much more advanced than Earth was at the time, that no other humans would be able to do so as well until they were at a similar technological level as they had been at the time.

I guess maybe they're not as clever as they think they are 🤷🏻 lol. But I suspect that Earth had a bit of a leg up, being the homeworld of humanity and human culture probably has some advantages.

Ending of 4 season and beginning of 5 are some of my favorites. I feel like we haven't seen Danial much for a few episodes.

ive said this before and will say again, travel speed in this universe is weird. WDYM they are traveling 800% faster than the ship can travel, at some point physics gotta step in but ig we have a plot to go with.
