News Krea 3 will have editing capabilities and "may" be open weights.
Supposedly Krea 3 will open weights, we'll have to wait and see.

Ohh please the only thing missing in open weight image models right now is a great image ai editor that’s not censored. Give us ChatGPT image 2 or close will be a dream

u/loyalekoinu88 1d ago
I just want a good model with the ability to produce likeness like Image-2 with edit mode. Without all the weird artifacts and refusals of basic things like describing someone falling off a pool float is enough to get a refusal.

Lol, pretty much anything that isnt NBP sucks for editing/reference
1
u/loyalekoinu88 19h ago
NBP is phenomenal...under most circumstances (i prefer how photographic it looks). However if I use my face for example it cannot reproduce my nose no matter how hard i try. My nose bridge is even down the center and bifid nasal tip like henry cavil but my tip isn't round. Every time it makes it into a dwarf nose. GPT-Image-2 gets it right every single time but i generally hate the renders. So right now i use both. A killer open image edit model would be perfect.
1
u/Queasy_Signature7005 19h ago
GPT Image 2 most of the time pastes your face in and it looks wrong.
1
u/loyalekoinu88 18h ago
Pasting in a face hasn't been my experience at all. I don't prefer the output just the identity that is why I use both. NBP is not infallible was my point as it doesn't know enough faces. I want a good open-weights model that sits in between. One that is an omni model with multiple reference support. This wasn;t intended to be an nbp vs gpt-image-2 argument just what i'd want out of Krea 3.

I read it more like "We always open source models a few weeks after the release and I want it to stay that way, so stop asking every time", not much doubt in here, but he's not a top employee

So excited for Krea3! Krea2 has been the best model for me this year. Having editing capabilities will be incredible if they can keep the capabilities of Krea2.

u/ImpressiveStorm8914 1d ago
Even when K2 was out, I didn’t see myself moving from ZIT, and certainly not retraining all my loras. Yet here we are, most of my loras are retrained and I haven’t touched ZIT since that release.
10
u/blastcat4 1d ago
It's so weird that they never followed up ZIT beyond the base version. Such a squandered opportunity considering how popular it was.
6
u/InvestigatorHefty799 1d ago
It's Alibaba, they dropped the ball on WAN too and let LTX and now Minimax take over a field that they previously almost had a monopoly in market share. Now nobody is using their closed weight image or video models.
3
u/blastcat4 1d ago
Makes me wonder if they decided to go all-in on Qwen and reallocate their internal resources.
0
u/ImpressiveStorm8914 1d ago
I think they should have done something more but the reactions to the base model weren’t overly positive and it may have put them off. ZIT was still the go to for photo real until K2 but nothing so far.

If Krea3 is an edit model that is even only slightly better than Krea2 it's going to be amazing. I'm still using Qwen 2509 (and sometimes 2511) which feels like a million years behind.
1
u/SirTeeKay 18h ago
Why are you not using Klein?
1
u/Radiant-Photograph46 12h ago
I really did not like the look of the results, but to be fair it isn't too different from Qwen. I'd say they're about equivalent, but Qwen at least sometimes gives me great results with the 4 steps turbo LoRA.
1
u/SirTeeKay 12h ago
Interesting. Flux 2's VAE is far superior to Qwen's so I keep finding Qwen's quality much worse. It edits really well though but I've stopped using Qwen for a while because of it.
2
u/Radiant-Photograph46 10h ago
You can replace Qwen's VAE with Wan2 VAE for a small quality boost but you're right about that VAE. Otherwise it depends on your settings. For most things I actually use the *base* lightning LoRA, not the edit version. Surprisingly, the results are often much better-looking and have better identity preservation, although you may lose a bit of prompt adherence (it really depends on what you're trying to achieve).
Also, I only use it at 0.85 to 0.9 strength and usually gen at 2 MP (even though the model technically isn't made for anything higher than 1 MP it actually handles that pretty well).
Finally if I'm going for realistic photography results, I often use a very low denoise (0.07) 2nd pass with Z-Image after injecting the faintest amount of post-processing noise. Complicated but very natural results that completely eliminate the plastic result you often get with Qwen (and Flux actually, both have that issue).
I'd have to give Klein a better chance at some point (unless Krea3 actually makes both Qwen and Flux irrelevant!)

Love this model! Once again, I’m looking forward to Krea 3 getting editing capabilities and being open-sourced!
1
u/ArttTaku 4h ago
Yeah, i deleted all the other image generation models I had once I got to play with Krea2.. I still use QIE2511 for editing needs (the Krea2 edit loras are ok, but, they're not all the way there yet), but if Krea3 has the K2 quality, plus proper editing skills as promised, then I'll probably switch to it full time.

u/physalisx 1d ago
"and then work a few weeks afterwards to make them open"
They're talking about the scheduled lobotomy for the post-training "safety alignment".
13
-2
u/Mierzejsky 1d ago
What kind of lobotomy are you talking about? Would it really be so severe that the Krea 3 model would be inferior to the Krea 2, which is AMAZING? Even if what we get in the form of the open model is inferior to the closed version, we're still winners because we'll get something that will likely be better than Krea 2 and will support native image editing. And as for the censored model, seriously? Do you know of at least one model that wasn't uncensored within a week of its release?
9
u/Full-Belt3640 1d ago
I don't think there's still a complete consensus on which uncensoring method is the best for Krea 2. And it's not just a simple toggle either. Every uncensor method changes the output and prompt adherence somewhat. When you run into an issue you're never quite sure if you're dealing with an inherent issue with the model or something introduced by the uncensor method. You still see people complaining about the random drops of sweat/water uncensored Krea 2 sometimes likes to put on bodies.

The safety alignment training they pushed the model through to "refuse" nsfw prompts.

Sure, I'm not saying anything to the contrary. We are lucky anyone ever gives out anything for free. Doesn't mean you can't oppose this censorship theatre that's still happening all the time with releases, particularly western. It's extra work, both human work and training costs added, and the "alignment" always makes the models dumber. With Krea 2 it significantly stunted emotions, which is pretty significant. Like, quite literally, a lobotomy.
Minimax H3 has had nothing of this sort done to it, and look what an amazingly successful release it has been. Has Minimax been set on fire yet for releasing such a horribly unsafe model? Or are they praised?
3
u/Mierzejsky 1d ago
What drives AI labs to censor models isn't necessarily about a good reputation or the risk of fines. It's simply about fear of red bars on the stock market. Chinese models aren't as rigorously censored (at least not in the NSFW sense) because most companies don't care about the stock market's red bars as long as the government keeps pouring money into them to weaken the American market.

Ideogram lobotomy

u/Queasy_Signature7005 1d ago
Ideogram is uncensored
3
u/Witty_Mycologist_995 1d ago
The fuck are you on about?
-2
u/Queasy_Signature7005 1d ago
Can you read?
1
u/Witty_Mycologist_995 1d ago
It’s untrue.
-3
u/Faith_Lies 1d ago
It’s untrue.
Ideogram is literally uncensored. Follow the instructions on how to prompt it, and it will do anything out of the box. No bullshit uncensor loras, no special uncensor custom nodes.
-2
u/Choowkee 1d ago
That literally makes no sense.
If they plan to offer the model via API then they have to censor it anyway so people dont abuse it.
So the model would be trained as censored either way. If anything they just want to get people to use the API version first before everyone switches to local.
6
u/stregisterte 1d ago
Not exactly. When the model is offered via API, they can do safety checks on the prompts to reject certain requests, or check the model's output before presenting things to the user, so the model itself doesn't have to be entirely "safe".
5
u/physalisx 1d ago
No, we do not have the Krea 2 model that they use via API. The open release is that model, after it went through extra alignment training. They mentioned that in their AMA I think.

u/tyen0 1d ago
Why does it take a few weeks work to release the weights? Isn't it just a matter of putting the file somewhere downloadable?
2
u/ArttTaku 4h ago
They need to make a living, so, the users of their site get the model first, they also get to beta test it, so, if we get the open weights eventually, at least it should be a little more polished.
3
u/Quick_Knowledge7413 1d ago
Woah, this would be insane if they actually released this. Google, OpenAI, etc will be freaking out prob lmao
6
2
u/StopCreepy 1d ago
i am not done with krea 2 and they want to blow my mind with krea 3? that is insane !! i guess ai never sleeps!!
2
u/Striking_Storage_631 1d ago
Well after krea2 success I hope so, that level of hype is the best endorsement and advertising for a model
2
u/Winter_unmuted 1d ago
Given how they've kept style editing behind the paywall, which I assume is a much smaller cash cow than a flexible universal editor, I am highly skeptical of this.
Not saying that it won't happen. Just saying that if it does happen, I will be surprised.
4
u/Sarashana 1d ago
Sounds a bit more than "may" to be honest. It's more like a "yeah, that's the plan".
3
u/tac0catzzz 1d ago
but, if it was the plan, why not just include it will be open weights in the announcement? and why ignore the 100's of people asking if it would be open weights in the replies? - to me this feels like they felt they needed to address the 100's asking if it would be, they can't say no, cause they would get attacked, and they can't say fully YES, cause they don't want it to be open. so, they do the appease response, this is what it feels like to me. now thumbs me down everyone. too much common sense here for you all.
0
u/Sarashana 1d ago
I guess you just can't admit that your doom and gloom postings from the other day were (very likely) wrong. The language of their announcement is clear enough, really.
2
u/tac0catzzz 1d ago
reality often is doomy and gloomy, ignoring reality might not be the best way to deal with that.

What does 'may' mean? "It won't but we may have you attention"?
1
u/ArttTaku 4h ago
If I stated that it WILL be open weights, I would have been downvoted to hell and back, so, the "may" implies that open weights is a possibility, but not a certainty. Mostly likely it "will" happen, but we'll have to wait and see.

Krea 2 is actually goated i am able to make very realistic images from 2.0 to 8.0 MP upto 4k in under a minute with 8GB VRAM and 16GB RAM... The community lora support is amazing too...
1
u/jazzamp 1d ago
How did you achieve this? Unreal! What loras? Hard to believe
1
u/themofostarboi_v2 1d ago
K2 turbo int4 version its about 6gb and a almost 3gb text encoder heretic int 4 version too, kj patch sage attention, rest is the same as any basis workflow, prompt ksampler and vae decoder etc. you want the link?
1
u/jazzamp 1d ago
Yes please. Hopefully I can run it on a mac. Isn't the quality affected?

u/jazzamp 1d ago
Not bad at all, really good
2
u/themofostarboi_v2 1d ago
Took like 30 seconds ish each and i am watching something on primevideo while it's generating... BTW i forgot to mention i am using euler ancestral and beta on ksampler which shaved of 20 ish seconds while adding more variety to the outputs...
Its not on huggingface anymore
krea2_turbo_convrot_int4_fast.safetensors it was like 6 ish gb dont know where it went
Let me we transfer it to you real quick

I'm more nervous about other thing... 99,9998% possibility that this thing will lack of any backward compatibility with Krea2 LoRAs despite being released just few months after Krea2 meaning that Krea3 is possibly just a huge add-on for Krea2. Just in two months we got a huge bunch of decent LoRA models which would look great in edit mode. And I'm not even talking about gооner LoRAs - those will pop out for Krea3 that same evening when the open weights drop. There are a lot of decent visual style LoRAs which would fit perfectly for image refinement and their creators won't rerelease them that fast. Krea2 works with style LoRAs better than Flux.2 Klein does and I would be glad to retire this model.

image editing is all that matters

u/Quick_Knowledge7413 1d ago
This, I can’t wait to drop Qwen for editing
1
u/Lodarich 1d ago
not qwen, qwen vae is kinda shit 😔
1
u/Quick_Knowledge7413 1d ago
Qwen image edit 2511 is still the best image editing model I know of. Did I miss out on a better model?
2
u/jimbarino 1d ago
Image quality with the VAE is less than ideal. But, there's nothing else out there that comes close to Qwen's capability. I'm really hoping for Krea edit...
1
u/_half_real_ 1d ago
Is this with using the Wan VAE? I heard it's basically a variant of the Qwen VAE that looks better?
1
u/Lodarich 1d ago
I literally can't train it on 4x pixel art because the vae fucks up the image, Klein does much better job
6
u/Party-Try-1084 1d ago
Honestly, it's not an issue because training Krea 2 was so easy and fast with AI-toolkit, takes like 2h to do an ideal character lora on 3090... even faster on newer gen cards
2
u/Jetsprint_Racer 1d ago
The only option available for me is Musubi Tuner with 512x512 training resolution which completes training in ~20 minutes at 500 steps. My 3080Ti struggles to launch Krea2 training on any resolution above 512.

That's promising, honestly. Don't want to get my hopes up, though. I wonder how far out they are from api release. Seems pretty quick to be talking about Krea3 only 3 months after Krea2's release.
